Ryu's POV:
I hurt everywhere. I still hated myself. The only thing in my life that kept me happy was Jisung. It was clear he knew exactly what kinds of things Woojin had done to me when he took me. And just like what happened with the graduation party, he told me he didn't care about what he did to me, only that I was back with him. I loved him so much and after the hell I'd been through in the last few years, I only realized I grew to love him more as time went by.
The first few weeks after I woke up consisted of me being carefully monitored by the doctors. They kept a close eye on my diet, weight, physical activity, and, of course, my heart to be sure I wasn't rejecting it. After about three weeks of that, they finally let the police investigators in to see me. However, they quickly tried to kick them out when my heart rate started to get too high.
"I'm sorry, gentlemen," my cardiologist told the investigators, "Ms. Kim is my patient and her health takes priority over your investigation. She is becoming overly distressed and her body is still in the beginning stages of recovery from getting a heart transplant. I need to ask you to leave."
"Doc, it's okay," I told him. "I need to do this. He took everything from me. I hate myself because of it, but I can't let him get away with it. I'll never feel safe again if I leave this hospital knowing he's walking around."
"See, she wants to cooperate with us," one of the investigators said to him. "Just let her give us her statement and we'll leave. We'll be in touch only as needed. But we'll need copies of her medical records since the night she was brought in here."
"Fine, but I'm staying in here with you," Doc replied. "You may feel it would be easier for Ryu to speak to you without her fiancé at her side, but I'm not letting her do this alone. She's been my patient for a long time, and I'm not going to let her risk her health more. Sometimes, she needs someone to tell her when to slow down."
"She's legally an adult..." the second investigator started.
"She's also legally my responsibility to keep alive," Doc cut him off. "Her health is still in a delicate state because she is only three weeks post-op on a heart transplant. If she gets too upset, she can reject the new heart and die. So, I stay or you go. Which do you want to go with? Because police investigators or not, if I call security, you will be escorted out of this hospital and not allowed back to see Ryu. Cardiology department trumps your investigation because of the delicate nature of the patient's health."
I struggled not to smirk as Doc had a pissing contest with the investigators. The second investigator looked like he was going to argue, but the first one stopped him. He sighed before turning from the second investigator to Doc.
"We'll do this your way," he told him. "It's clear you clearly care about this patient and her health."
Doc nodded at him and they started asking me questions. True to his word, he didn't leave my side as I told them everything I remembered of the hellish time I was stuck in that prison Woojin made for me. It was hard for me to do it, and Doc stopped me several times to help bring my heart rate down before he let me continue, but I finally finished telling them everything. It took over an hour. By the time I was done, I was physically and emotionally exhausted. Even though I told them everything they looked like they had more questions for me.
"That's enough," Doc told them. "Ryu is visibly exhausted. This is as much as she can handle for now. If you have more questions, call me here at the hospital in a few days to check on how she's doing and I'll let you know when you can come back."
"We have to schedule interviews through you?" the second investigator, still annoyed at the way Doc took over, asked.
"She's my patient and this interview took a lot out of her. She looks like she needs to sleep for a few days, so, yes. I need to keep her stable and if she has these interviews too close together or on a day where she's already not doing well, it will be detrimental to her health," Doc told him.
