The comeback for the new album was in less than 24 hours and I was starting to feel like I couldn't do it. How was I supposed to leave Ryung-gi backstage even long enough for us to go perform? My thoughts were racing.
"What's wrong, Appa?" Ryu asked me, as if she was reading my mind, from where she was resting on her bed.
"Nothing, Ryu. Gwaenchanha," I told her.
"Liar," she said, laughing. "You should see your face."
I sighed. She really was becoming as bold as the other guys in the dorm, but I guess that was to be expected. After all, she spent a lot of time with Yoongi and Jungkook.
"I'm worried about leaving you backstage during the comeback stages starting tomorrow," I admitted.
"Everything will be fine, Appa."
"I'm worried about the press stressing you out, the fans crowding you, and then being left alone, Ryu. What happens if you have an issue and I'm not there to help you?"
Jungkook knocked on the door at that point, peeking his head in.
"Hyung? Can you and Ryu come out to the living room? I want to introduce you to two of my friends," he said.
I looked at him weirdly, but Ryu had already jumped up and put on her slippers to follow him. Reluctantly, I followed him out after my daughter. When we got to the living room I vaguely recognized the two young men in the room. They were Jungkook's age, part of the '97-liners.
"Jin-hyung, Ryung-gi, I want you to meet my friends, BamBam and Kim Yugyeom from Got7," Kookie told me.
The two boys bowed to me. Then they knelt down to Ryung-gi's height and said hello to her. They also each handed her a stuffed animal which made her smile. I realized they were good with her like Kookie was.
"Hyung, I figured you'd be panicking about leaving Ryu alone for any period of time by now," Kookie told me while his friends talked to Ryu. "BamBam and Yugy said they'd come hang out backstage with the rest of Got7 to watch her for the comeback stage tomorrow. They can't guarantee the rest of Got7 being there for all of the comeback stages, but they promised to be there for them. They're both good with kids, Hyung. And for tomorrow at least, they'll have Jackson, who has a nephew, Mark who has a younger brother and older sister, Youngjae who has an older brother and sister, and they both have siblings themselves."
"I don't know, Kookie. I know that Jackson has become friends with Joonie and you're friends with these two, but Ryu isn't just any kid," I replied.
"Look at her with them, Jin-Hyung," he said to me, making me watch his friends with Ryu. "She's laughing, she's getting along with them. And she's very vocal. If she needed help with her health she'd tell the guys, who would demand the stage hands tell us over our ear pieces if it was something they couldn't handle on their own."
"What's going on in here? What's all this fuss?" Yoongi asked, coming back from the studio.
"Oppa!" Ryu ran over to him with a light in her eyes reserved only for him. "Kookie introduced me to his friends. They gave me these!"
She showed him the stuffed rabbit and bear. He looked to me and Kookie. Yugyeom and BamBam got up and bowed to him as Kookie introduced them to him.
"It's good to see you smiling, Kid," Yoongi said to Ryu. "Did you finish the homework I gave you?"
Ryu looked at the ground.
"I had her resting until Kookie brought our guests to introduce to us, Yoongi," I explained. "She was a little tired after her other lessons today."
