Ruby Riot: Kirishima x Reader

~Chapter 3~

Kirishima: Y/N !

Within a blink of an eye, Kirishima grabs your hand and pulls you out of the way. At the same time, Professor Aizawa uses his quirk to prevent Bakugo from releasing an explosion from his gauntlet.

Bakugo: HEY !

Professor Aizawa: Enough Bakugo, follow me to my office, we need to talk ! Class, I will be back in 5 minutes to finish up the apprehension test.

The class stares in shock as they are unable to process what just happened before their eyes. You notice that Kirishima is still grasping your hand, he has a tight grip on it. You look down at your hands.

Kirishima: Oh ! I'm sorry, Y/n, I didn't realize I still had your hand.

He releases your hand and let's out a nervous laugh and begins to blush as red as his hair.

Y/n: It's okay. By the way, you didn't have to step in. I really appreciate it, but you could've gotten hurt ! I don't want you or anyone else getting injured over my mess.

Kirishima: I wasn't going to just stand there and watch you get hurt. I warned you that Bakugo has a short temper, but I've never seen him like this.

Y/n: I should've listened, but still, you can't fix my mess, please be careful. If Professor Aizawa didn't erase Bakugo's quirk, you would've been the one hit. It was my fight, I should've been the one hit !

Kirishima's face softens as he begins to zone out into his own head.

Y/n: Even though he is staring at me, it looks like he's thinking about something.

Kirishima is frozen in thought as he thinks back to something he has said years prior.

Kirishima : "And I just stood by....helpless. So if I stand by and do nothing now, how am I supposed to call myself a hero or a man ?"

Tears begin to form in Kirishima's eyes, but he quickly blinks them away before you could notice.

Kirishima: Y/n, I vowed to myself that I can't just stand by and watch someone get hurt. My job is to protect, and I stand by it even if I get hurt. I couldn't just stand there and let you get shot at when I could've easily stepped in. It was either me or you, I chose myself. So please, stop feeling bad about it !

Kirishima's soft expression turns to frustration, his brows are furrowed.

Y/n: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you.

Kirishima: Y/n...I apologize, I didn't mean to go off on you, that wasn't very manly of me. It's a long story to explain why I reacted the way I did.

Y/n: It's ok, Kirishima, you don't have to explain yourself. I understand. Thank you for helping me out back there.

Kirishima: You're welcome, anytime.

You and Kirishima take your place back in line. Although the vibe is tense, the class starts to chat amongst themselves while waiting for Professor Aizawa and Bakugo to return.

Denki stops filming.

Denki: Man what a show ! Y/n, you sure are brave, there's no way I would've gotten in Bakugo's face like that.

Jirou: How pathetic, you seriously recorded that, Denki ?

Denki: Um yes, for views and for laughs.

Jirou: There was nothing funny about that interaction. Someone seriously could've gotten hurt and you're worried about views ?

Denki begins to feel stupid while Jirou continues to lecture him.

After about 5 minutes, Professor Aizawa returns with Bakugo.

Professor Aizawa: I'm sorry about that cutting into our class time. We can now proceed with the quirk apprehension test. I will remove a few tests as we are pressed on time.

The quirk apprehension test continues with a series of different tests that you're required to perform. Eventually the test comes to an end.

Professor Aizawa: Good job with the test everyone. I have seen some improvement from some of of you. Others have a lot of work to do. Make sure to check your results. If you placed in 15th-21st, you have failed and will be required to take a supplementary course throughout the semester to strengthen your quirks. I will post the results on the board. You're free to go, I will see you all tomorrow.

Professor Aizawa posts the results on the board and begins to leave. You, along with everyone else races to the board to find your results.

The class erupts in a mixed reaction. Some are celebrating while others are groaning at the thought of taking a supplementary course.

Bakugo: WHY DID I PLACE 4TH ?

Professor Aizawa was long gone before Bakugo could have his question answered. Bakugo runs off to find Professor Aizawa.

Y/n: Hmm...I placed 10th. I guess that's not bad, but it's not good either. I shouldn't let this discourage me, I passed, and I have a ton of room to improve this year.

You begin to head off in the direction of your dorm, but someone stops you.

Kirishima: HEY Y/N ! WAIT UP !

[Author's note: Just to clarify, Bakugo was placed lower due to foul play. Professor Aizawa counted that towards his score as a misuse of his quirk.]
