Sam's POV

At first it was all silence in the crappy motel room, and the next thing I know that veil is pierced as I hear Rose scream. I ran to the kitchen like my life depended on it. I thought it was just a stupid fight. Everybody has stupid fights.

But my mind changed when I walking into the kitchen to find Dean's hands around Rose's neck.

I yelled at him to stop, but it was like he didn't hear me. Or he was ignoring my pleas.

Rose's eyes were slowly closing, her grip on Dean's hands loosening. I had to stop this.

"DEAN! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? SHE'LL DIE!" I screamed, lunging forward and trying to pry his hands from her throat. Man, did he have a death grip. "DEAN, STOP!" Again witht the stony, blank look.

A tear slipped from Rose's lidded eyes.

"Dean. Please." She wheezed out. I looked at her in shock, how was she still consious? My brother looked at her too, his brow furrowing.

Something must have clicked back in place, because he eyes widened as he looked at his hands, and he tore away immediately.

Rose slid down the wall, gasping madly for air like a fish out of water. I knelt down to her side ASAP, grasping her face in my hands. I didn't even look at Dean, who had taken a few steps back.

My thumb gently caressed her cheek, rubbing a fresh tear away. She was choking back sobs, her shaking hand delicately reaching to steady herself on my arm.

"Oh my God, are you okay?" I asked her softly. She hesitated before nodding slightly. Her big eyes looked past my head and up, fear filling the irises.

Rage built up in my stomach at seeing her like this. I had just met her, but I kinda felt like, besides Jo and Charlie, that she was my little sister. I felt protective over her, and she almost just died.

I gave her one last confirming look, before straightening my legs and standing in front of her crouched figure, squaring my body off to Dean. My hands made fists.

Dean was standing there, a fazed look on his face. He was staring at his shaking hand, his face slightly pale. He was just staring at it, turning his palm over and back again.

"What. The. Hell. Did. You. Just. Do?" I pronounced each word as a sentence through my teeth. Dean paused moving his hand before meeting my eyes slowly. He lowered his hand to his side, sighing.

Licking his lips like he did when he was nervous or concentrating, he tried to steal a look past me to the girl laying on the floor. "Rose-" I stepped forward and shoved him by the chest roughly. "Don't talk to her. Not after what just happened." I growled.

Dean didn't look surprised at my anger. Instead he just shrugged and grabbed his beer off the counter.

I looked at him in shock as he nonchalantly took a swig. Like what he didn't just do mattered.

"Seriously?" I squeaked. He turned his head to me with a straight face.

"I'm a demon Sammy, what did you expect? A tearful apology?" He spat out bitterly. His mood changes were freaking annoying. And to think I thought he actually cared about her. About anyone. I guess I was wrong.

"She pissed me off. She knew the consequences, and this is what happened." My big brother's voice got louder with each word.

I heard Rose whimper. "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS!" He roared.

He threw his beer bottle angrily against the wall. The sound was like an explosion, glass was flying in all directions, showering over my legs and Rose.

As we were all silent, Dean was breathing heavily, his shoulders set, nostrils flaring. I had to get the poor girl out of here. Who knows what the demon of my brother would do when he was REALLY pissed off.

"C'mon Rose." I mumbled, reaching my hand out behind me without keeping my eyes off of the man in front of me. I felt her small, cold hand encase mine as she stood up slowly. Dean's eyes followed me as I tugged her out of the kitchen and into the bedroom.

Dean didn't follow me, thank God.

I let go of her hand and rummaged the floor and the bed, picking up discarded clothing and her other belongings. Grabbing for her bag beside the closet, I shoved everything I could find in it. She stayed silent behind me.

Without a word, I grabbed her leather jacket and placed it on her shoulders, and she gratefully placed her arms into the sleeves. Wordlessly, I took her hand again, swung her bag over my shoulder, grabbing her phone off of the nightstand and slipping it into her pocket.

We walked back out, and I was surprised to see Dean still standing in the kitchen, staring down at the small pieces of glass. I could've sworn he would've left for a bar.

I nodded to her shoes on the ground, and Rose bent to place them on.

"Where are you going?" Dean muttered quietly. I turned to glance at him, still standing in the same position, not even looking at me.

"Somewhere that's not here." I smart a*sed. Rose finished putting her shoes on and cleared her throat. I turned back to her and gave her hand a reasurring squeeze.

"We're taking the car." I stated blandly. I was expected a 'no way in hell Sam, get a cab', but he only nodded sullenly.

"Let's go." I said, opening the door and ushering her out by the small of her back.

She stopped in the middle of the doorway, before she turned her head back, fresh tears in her eyes.

"Goodbye Dean Winchester." Rose said. Dean didn't respond.

And with that, the door closed between my  new friend and my brother, leaving him behind.

AUTHOR'S  NOTE

Sorry it's a short chapter guys, I've been stressed with school work and all.

I just wanted to thank you guys who have been reading and commenting, it brightens my day by a million. I've been having a lot of panic attacks lately, so I don't feel the best. I'm super prone to stress, and I feel the need to be a perfectionist. Sometimes I have those days (a lot lately) where I feel like I'm not good enough. I hope people can relate and that I'm not the only one.

Sorry bout that, had to get it off my chest.
