Castiel's POV

I stood in the middle of the shopping centre's parking lot as I watched Dean's Impala speed away into the night. I cocked my head to the side as I stared into the now empty parking stall. What had happened to Dean?

Our friendship has been on the rocks, yes, because of Dean's transformation into one of Cain's demon soldiers. And even though he tried to hide his duties from Sam and I, he sometimes forgets that I am a celestial being. Therefore, I know exactly what he is doing behind his brother's back.

To be exact, his duty mainly involves the maiming, torture, or death of his victim. I would still like to believe that the Dean Winchester who I had rescued from hell and the Dean Winchester who had became my family was still there, somewhere. But each time I hear of his work, my small sense of this disappears more and more. I have tried to stay in contact with the boys, but the angels do not approve of myself being present around either of them. They do not hold good reputations up in heaven, and Dean being what he is now makes the situation more complex.

Under normal situations, I would have rebeled against heaven, like I have done previously. However, I think of God, my father, and how he allowed me to come back to Earth after I had lost my grace. Right when Dean started to get used to his new lifestyle. I do not want to disappoint Father, but I have grown to care for Sam and Dean. But is it really the same Dean?

The only reason I came to this town was to warn them. I heard talk among the angels about how the demons were hunting this girl. The girl they had been with. And when I finally tracked them down, she had been sitting comfortably in the backseat. Why had she not been tied up? I would've sworn that Dean would have taken care of her in the right way, to exterminate the threat, for his side. I assumed they were not aware, and had assumed correctly. Dean had seemed genuinely confused at my conclusion. The things he didn't know..

I couldn't sense anything in her. She was not an angel, or demon, or any creature I had heard of. She did not even have human traces. She seemed imaginary, as if she didn't actually exist. But she was alive, and very real. What shocked me the most however, was the look in Dean's eyes when I informed him. They were in disbelief at first, then denial and anger. He was protecting her; he had even pulled at my evening coat.  And before he left, he gave me a cold, angry stare. Why had he been so keen on keeping her safe?

Normally, I would have been angry with his foolish decision to trust that thing. But all I could think about was....

That is what our Dean would do. The Dean we had lost and had been replaced with an angry, twisted creature. Could this mean, that he may come back to us? If that is what this meant, then that is all that mattered to me.

.......

AUTHOR'S NOTE

How did you guys like Cas' s POV? I enjoyed it, since the show doesn't really focus on what Cas really feels underneath his serious facade. I wanted this chapter to show his emotional connection to Dean, like how is is willing to accept Dean's decision to help Rose because it may mean that his Dean was coming back. Cas is very loyal to his family, and that's what I wanted to show.
