Dean's POV
I stared out the window. Small rain droplets hit the glass, making a pitter patter sound. The stormy clouds matched my mood.
What the hell did Rose think she was doing? She knows what I am. She knows what I can do. She knows the consequences.
I couldn't control myself. I tried to ignore the fire in my stomach. Why the hell did I let her get to me?
I heard the motel door open and slam. I didn't flinch, instead I chuckled and threw my head back, taking a big swig of beer. "Something upset you Sammy?"
"I hope you're damn well happy with yourself." Sam grumbled from behind me. I heard his big heavy feet stomp against the cheap tiling. "Sam, no need for hosility." I smirked, turning around to face him. I casually leaned against the counter and took another sip. Sam was standing with his back to me, his fists clenched.
"You know what Dean?" Sam turned around. "Yeah?"
"Screw you." Sam said with gritted teeth. I just laughed again. Hey, I'm a jackass. It's part of the job description.
"What?" I put my beer on the counter beside me and stepped forward. Sammy imitated me and met me, placing a long fingered hand on my shoulder and shoving. I barely moved. "Screw. You." He punctuated each word.
"I'd rather you not." I responded smartly. Sam rolled his eyes and walked away from me. "What is the big deal anyway? You didn't even want her to stay with us after I told you what Cas said." I reminded him.
"No Dean, I didn't! Because I thought she was a monster! But she's not. She's just a vulnerable girl who has had to go through crap with you because she has to in order to stay alive! The only monster here is you!" Sam growled, turning to face me but making no move besides.
"So why can't Cas sense anything then if she's not a monster? Huh? What do you say to that?" I provoked him heartily.
"God dammit Dean!" Sam shouted. He was frustrated, and he tugged at his long locks. His angry stare studdenly turned sad. "I don't know." He mumbled. "And we never will, because of you."
"Oh c'mon, it wasn't even that bad." I put emphasis on the 'that'. I may have overreacted a bit, but she had it coming.
"Dean, you are such a jackass. You were freaking strangling her!"
"Barely." I scoffed. "Whatever." My brother said. He sat down on the bed with more force than necessary and lifted his leg up to undo his fed shoe. I watched with dazed interest.
A flapping of wings pierced the air.

Cas' POV
It took me a while, but I finally tracked down the Winchesters. They were staying in a crappy motel, the sixth one in the vicinity.
When I arrived, Sam was taking off his shoe and Dean was watching him with a placid expression. I was used to this. They had probably had a fight.
Dean's eyes jerked up as soon as I entered. "Dammit Cas, you can't just pop in randomly. We've talked about this! I could have been changing man." He scolded me. I did remember those talks but I had always forgotten.
"Hello Dean." I nodded at him. Dean just stared at me. I looked past his shoulder at Sam. "Sam."
"Hey Cas." Sam muttered, tossing his shoe and working on the other. He was in a bad mood.
"What do you want Cas?" Dean asked, exasperated. "Dean, I would not be here if it was not urgent." I assured the eldest Winchester brother. I did not want to cause him annoyance. "So what is it?" Dean continued, rubbing a hand down his face. Dean looked tired, thre were shadows beneath his dark eyes and it appeared he had not shaved in a few days.
"That girl you were taking care of...." I trailed off, trying to recall her name. "Rose." Sam piped up from behind Dean. Dean frowned at me. "We were not taking care of her Cas. We were giving her shelter."
"It is not of import." I told him sharply. Dean raised an eyebrow but held up his hands in surrender. "Okay, so what is of import?"
"Dean, Rose got into a car with a man. After Sam had carelessly dropped her off." I told them.
Sam stood. He still had one shoe on, he must have gotten distracted. I would never get used to his looming height.
"Hey, I did not just carelessly drop her off. She told me to drop her off there." Sam corrected me. Dean's expression changed to anger. "What the hell Sam?" He growled.
"What?" Sam looked confused. "You just dropped her off with some random guy? Are you crazy?" Dean questioned.
"Are you jealous? Why do you care anyway, you almost killed her." Sam argued back. This was news to me. "Dean, wha-" "Shut up Cas!" Dean demanded, holding up a hand to silence me. I closed my mouth and watched the brothers.
Dean seemed to realize something in that moment, and lowered his hand. "Cas?"
"Yes Dean?"
"Who was this guy you are speaking of?"
I squinted, trying to think back. "He had brown hair....A red hoodie......Tall, but not as tall as Sam....." I was about to continue before Sam spoke. "Carter."
"Carter? As in douchebag?" Dean exclaimed. Sam stayed silent. Dean surprised me by letting out a humorless laugh. "Well, this day just keeps getting better and better!"
"Dean, that's not it." I reminded them of the real problem. They both looked at me expectantly. I cleared my throat.
"That man....Carter.....He was not a man."
"Oh not this crap again!" Dean muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Is anyone even a human anymore to you Cas? Must be a new trend. Supernatural: the new sexy. Or maybe he's actually a woman...."
"DEAN!" I grabbed his attention again Dean smirked at me. I took this as a sign to continue. "He was a demon."
"Wait, WHAT?" Sam shouted. Dean's smirk disappeared. "I saw his eyes flash black." I added. "What. The. Hell." Dean turned to Sam, his eyes wide. "Dean, I swear to God I didn't know. What the hell? What if it's the demon we're looking for."
"That would explain a lot. The victims all matched her description.... Oh man." Dean muttered. "What the hell do we do? The freaking thing's after her! And you just let her go!" Dean cried out.
He looked at me. "Cas, where did they go?" I thought for a moment.
"I didn't see. I just saw them get into the car and drive away. I followed them until the highway, and they turned right. That's when I tracked you down." I explained apologetically.
Sam snapped his long fingers. "Aunt Helen!" Dean frowned. "Sam, what the frick are you talking about?"
"She has an Aunt Helen. I heard her mention her. I bet they're going there! Her Aunt would want to see her after she's been missing!" Sam explained. I nodded. "Yes that is probable."
"Sam, you better be right or I swear-" Dean pointed a finger at Sam beforehe grabbed his jacket off the chair. "Dean, where are you going?" Sam demanded. "Where does it look like, I'm gonna find her. Duh. I knew that guy was sketchy! What did I tell you!" Dean said almost maniacally.
"Dean, we don't even know where her aunt lives!" Sam said. "So grab your laptop and do what you do best: research." Dean stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"But-" Sam protested but Dean was already out the door. Sam groaned and grabbed his other shoe and his laptop. He then seemed to remember I was there.
"You coming?" He asked. I shook my head. "Dean would not appreciate my company. I don't want to intrude. I also don't think the angels appreciated my warning you, and I doubt they would appreciate me being in the Impala with Dean." Sam looked at me with sympathy. "That's probably true."
"Thanks Cas." He said greatfully. I nodded. "Of course. Tell me if you find the girl. You know how to contact me." It was Sam's turn to nod.
"Good luck." I told him. Sam smiled grimly before shutting the door behind him.
