Rose's POV
I twisted my fingers nervously as I waited with baited breath for the boys to return.
If you had asked me a year ago what I would be doing at the time, I would have never said, "Oh yeah, I would be hanging out in an old bunker and travelling in an ancient car with a demon and his little brother who hunt monsters". Never, would I have also said, "I would also be sitting across the table from an angel in a trench coat who tried to kill me in a mall parking lot".
I looked at my white socks nervously. I could feel his piercing gaze on me. Why wasn't he saying anything?
"Why aren't you saying anything?" I blurted out, snapping my head up. The angel, Castiel I think his name was, looked at me as if my voice had startled him.
"I...I think we should wait for Dean to return." He sounded hesitant, but his face showed no emotion.
"Why? What's happening?" A million questions ran through my head. "Do you...Are you going to kill me? Do you need Dean's permission or something?" I stood up abruptly, the wooden chair scraping the floor. I winced, but he did not.
"Rosalie..." Castiel closed his eyes slowly and raised his hand. I cowered away.
"It's Rose! And you can't tell me what to do!" I knew I was being childish, but I didn't care.
He popped his eyes open but ignored my correction.
"Rosalie, you need to stay calm. I am not here to harm you."
I studied his blue eyes. They were quite beautiful, to be honest. Not as beautiful as Dean's, but pretty nice anyway. He looked sincere in that moment, so I let out a sigh and sat down on the chair again. What reason would he have to kill me anyway? I don't even know him.
Castiel looked relieved that I had sat down again, and that was the first expression I had seen from him so far. "Finally." I exhaled.
"What?" The angel looked at me with a puzzled expression. Another one, what a pleasure for me!
"Well, I was thinking before this talk how it was weird you never have expressions. But you just showed me two in a row. Lucky me!" I joked. When it looked like he was about to respond, he stopped and stood with fluid grace, looking at something behind me.
I stood as well out of instinct and Dean standing there with his arms hanging limply at his sides. Sam trailed in behind him, almost like he was sulking. I tried to catch his eye, but he continued to stare at his brother's heels.
Dean, however, had a strong gaze fixed on Castiel.
"Do it."
What?
"What?" I voiced my confusion out loud. Sam turned his back on me and ran his hands through his hair. I could hear him take a sharp intake of breath and my blood froze.
"Sam? What's going on?" I could hear the panic bubble in my voice. A flash of expression passed over Dean's face. Guilt, maybe?
"Dean?" I whispered, helpless.
"We must find out what you are, Rosalie." A deep voice said from behind me. I tore my eyes from Dean and whipped around to face the forgotten guest. "What do you mean?! I'm a human!" I cried, blood pounding in my ears.
Castiel stepped forward and I jumped back, my fists clenched defensively. "No." Was his response. I felt my head swimming.
"Humans don't blow up other humans, Rose."
Dean's words cut me like a knife. The guilt that I had pushed aside resurfaced and was threatening to suffocate me.
"That...I didn't do that on purpose! I don't know how I did it!" I insisted, pleading for their understanding.
I heard ringing in my ears.
"Rose, calm down!" Dean's voice felt distant.
"What are you going to do to me?! Huh? Are you going to kill me and use me as an experiment?!" I saw red.
"We are going to look inside you." Castiel said with ease.
"What the freaking hell! No, you're not!" I shouted, feeling violated by his sentence. "Not like that, Rose. He means your soul." Sam attempted to explain. It didn't calm me down whatsoever.
I felt rage fill me completely. My hands began to shake and my teeth were clenched so hard a tooth probably chipped.
And that's when the lights broke.
Exploded, actually.

Dean's POVWhat the hell.

Sam's POV
"ROSE!" I shouted just as everything exploded.
I instinctively threw my arms around my head and crouched to that only my back was exposed. I could feel the shards of glass rain against my back and I squeezed my eyes shut.
Silence. Stillness.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and was faced with more darkness. Lifting my head but keeping my arms raised, I kept my ears sharp as I tried to get a glimpse of someone's presence.
"Rose?" I couldn't hear myself. Ringing invaded my head and I shook it as if to rid of the annoying sound.
"Dean? What happened?" I panicked, not hearing a response from her.
Before my brother could answer, a blue light appeared from the corner of my vision. Turning, I saw Cas behind the light coming from his outstretched hand. His face held a look of fury. Dean's face became illuminated as Cas took a step forward. He looked calm.
"Is...Is everyone all right?" I heard a small, shaky voice ask. I could only see a bit her of face, her eyes actually. They were round and horrified.
The ringing had subsided. I nodded dropped my head, twisting my watch back into place on my wrist. Rose exhaled in relief but the tension didn't disappear.
"Do it."
I snapped my head back up and met her eyes. They were serious.
"Please, Sam. I need to find out what I am." She begged. I studied her for one more minute, making sure she wasn't saying it under the suffocating pressure. For a response, I took a step back, leaving a space between her and the angel with the light.
Rose gave me a thankful look and directed her attention to Cas and Dean. "Do it." She repeated, holding her arms out to the sides as if bracing herself for what was to come.
Cas turned on his heels and walked towards Rose's room. "Come." He said over his shoulder, stopping at the door.
I couldn't see her any more, but Rose's inhale of air was not silent. On her way past, I felt a small hand grip the underside of my arm and give a small, reassuring squeeze.
And the hand was gone.
