Technically in this ending, it's the ending of unwanted. Nothing in this book happened in her 'dream.'

"Eleven, are you awake?"

El's eyes shot open. The spot next to her was cold. Max's warm body was nowhere to be found. She was twelve years old again. El gasped, scared out of her mind. "Max?" She called out quietly. No one answered her. She heard footsteps coming down the hall.

A guard opened her door. She killed him quickly, finding a way to escape the lab. She crawled in the pipes, using the light from the other side to get herself out. She squeezed out, tearing her gown on the process.

El ran as quick as possible. She ran to the school only to find her heart breaking. Mike was friends with Troy and James and they constantly picked on Will, Dustin was friends with the nerds, and Lucas played basketball. Max was nowhere to be found. She walked up to a crying Will. He was on the floor, holding his aching knee.

"Are you alright?"

"W-what? Yeah I'm okay."

"Does Mike have a sister?"

"Yeah, why? Wait who are you?"

"That isn't important, what are his sister's names?"

"Nancy and Holly."

"No Max?"

"Who's Max?"

"Fine what about a Max Mayfield?"

"Never heard of her."

"Fine what about Max Hargrove?"

"Nope."

"Max Davis?"

"Do you need help? Is she your mom or sister or something?"

"No she was- nevermind."

"Sorry, wish I could help."

She nodded, watching him walk off. Max didn't exist. Her whole world was broken. The boys weren't friends and Max didn’t exist. This was 10x worse than the lab.
