Mike knocked on the door softly. "Max? I know you said you don't want to talk about it, but I think you should. Billy loved you like you were his child, not even his sister. He cared so much about you that he left for you. It might've been the wrong decision, but you have to know he did it for you.
You've been in there all day, Max. We're all worried about you. The boys came and asked if you could talk. They're gone now. El made you some cookies. Please Max, just talk to me. I'm your brother, I care about you, I love you. I just want you to be okay. We all need you.
Please come out. We don't even have to talk! We can just sit and eat cookies and watch movies! We can go to the arcade or do dads make up. We can do whatever you want, Max. I'll even get you chocolate milk! Just please, come out!"
A minute passed and nothing was heard on the other side of the door. He knocked on it softly, worried she was asleep or something. "Max? Are you awake?"
Again, there was no response. Something in his gut was telling him that something else was going on. That something wasn't right. "Max? Open this door!"
Mike was getting anxious. He knocked on the door harshly. "Max! I'm not playing games with you, open this fucking door! Now!"
His heart started to race. She didn't respond to him at all. Mike turned the nob, pushing the door open. His heart dropped as he saw what was before him. Max was hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope from their dad's shed. The chair lay on the floor. He sobbed loudly, falling to his knees. His sister was gone.
