I quickly got dressed and ran downstairs. My mom was waiting outside in the car for me. I made my way out the door and into the passenger seat.
"Ready?" She asked, both of her hands on the wheel.
"Mhm." I hummed, reaching for my seatbelt.
My mom adjusted the rearview mirror and started backing up, eventually shifting the gear and starting to drive.
A few seconds of silence passed before she spoke, "What was all of the yelling from your room?"
"Huh?" I looked at her.
"When Tony was up there." She added.
I shifted my gaze to my lap. "Oh, nothing."
"Tony seemed upset when he left, and you don't seem too happy right now either."
I paused for a second before speaking. "Mom?"
"Hmm?" She hummed.
"Do you ever want to tell someone something but you're too scared of getting in trouble?" I bit my lip nervously.
"Um, I guess. Why?"
"Mom, I-..." I sighed. "I need you to listen to me and not freak out."
"Okay... What's up?"
"Um, that summer when I used to stay with you... Tony and I were um..." I paused.
"You were what?"
"Together..."
"Together? What do you mean together?" She asked.
"We dated that entire summer." I bit my lip nervously.
She paused for a second and let out a sigh, "Okay."
"When I left, he said some really hurtful things and we broke up..."
"I'm sorry that happened to you. Is that why you guys were fighting?"
"Kind of, yeah. I still love him."
"Was it serious?"
"Very."
She pulled into the grocery store parking lot. "Pete, I think you should leave him alone. He's married now."
"I know. It just hurts."
She parked and put the car in park. "I'm sorry, Pete. You're gonna be okay, though. I promise." She smiled and reached over, hugging me.
I hugged her back for a second before pulling away and unbuckling my seat belt. I opened the car door and got out, my mom doing the same. We both met at the front of the car.

Once I got home, I immediately went upstairs, hoping to catch up on some reading before taking a nap. As I sat on my bed, my phone dinged beside me. I picked it up and looked at the message across my screen.
"Hey, Peter. I hope you're alright."
I sighed and stared at the message, Tony's name painted at the top of my screen. I didn't know how to respond. I wasn't alright, but if I admitted that, I would feel like the bad guy. I didn't even know if it was a good idea to text him back, but I did.
"I'm fine. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I am. I just feel bad because I feel like I hurt you."
"No no no, you didn't. Don't worry."
I sighed and placed my phone beside me, closing my eyes. I let out a deep sigh and rested my hands on my chest. I heard my phone ding, indicating another message from Tony, but I didn't check it.
I laid there for what seemed like hours. My mind wandered, memories filling my head. I thought of what could have been. I realized that I shouldn't have left. If I stayed, it'd be me married to him. I know it. I was so happy with him. I want that happiness back. I miss being able to hold him in my arms. I miss sleeping over at his house. I miss being his.

Hii, sorry for the short chapter. I haven't exactly had the motivation to write. I've had a lot going on, but I will try to get chapters out this week or the next.
