"Oh..." I couldn't believe it.

"Yeah, we have been together for about 2 years now." He chuckled lightly.

"That's great. I'm happy for you." I smiled half-heartedly.

"Thanks. I'd love for you to meet her. How about you come for dinner tonight and meet her?" He asked.

I mentally cringed at the idea. Me meeting his wife? Hard pass. But, I didn't want to appear rude, so I agreed.

7 pm rolled around too fast. I was not ready to meet this woman.

My first thought was to dress myself up and make Tony's jaw drop at the sight of me. I grabbed some jeans and a button-up flannel out of my bag.

I wore my nice shoes and fixed my hair to the side.

I walked out of the door, waving to my mom as I left. Now it was time for what was, most likely, going to be the worst night of my life.

I knocked on the door softly and waiting for someone to answer. I looked around awkwardly until I heard the door open. A woman with long blonde hair and crystal blue eyes opened the door. She was gorgeous. My eyes darted down to her hand which held a beautiful diamond ring. I felt sick.

"Oh, hi! You must be Peter. I've heard so much about you." She smiled and stuck her hand out. I took her hand and shook it. "I'm Ashley. Here, come in." She moved aside and I walked in. The house was exactly as I left it.

Tony walked in from the kitchen. "Hey, Peter." He brought me into a hug, which I gladly took.

Once he let me go, I smiled. "Thank you so much for inviting me, Tony." I looked into his eyes.

"No problem." Tony smiled.

"We made chicken alfredo. Do you eat that?" Ashley asked.

"Uh, yeah, I guess," I replied.

Tony had led me to the kitchen table. He sat beside Ashley and I sat on the other side, smiling awkwardly.

There was a plate of food already in front of me. I started eating after both of them began.

"This is really good." I commented.

"Thank you. Tony helped me make it. He's really good when it comes to cooking." Ashley laughed lightly.

After dinner, I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. I said my goodbyes to Ashley and on my way out of the door, Tony stopped me.

"Hey, Peter, here's my new number." He handed me a piece of paper.

I smiled. "Thanks."
