I stared at the door for at least five minutes after he left. I felt my mom's hand rest on my shoulder.
"Peter... I'm so sorry." She spoke.
"Don't. This is all your fault." My voice broke.
"Don't say that. It's n-"
I cut her off and turned around, "Yes it is! I heard what you said to him. You basically forbid him to see me."
"Pete, calm down. You're being overdramatic. I did what I thought I needed to do as a mother to protect you." She defended herself with a stern voice.
"You're not protecting me. I love him, mom."
"Well, obviously he doesn't love you! He married someone else! Just move on, Peter!" She raised her voice.
I hesitated for a second before turning around and reaching for the door.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"Away from you."
She grabbed my arm, "No, you're not. Go to your room."
I turned around, "Last time I checked, I'm a grown-ass man and can do whatever I want."
"You are not going to talk to me like that." She exclaimed, "Now go upstairs."
I walked past her and made my way to my room, slamming the door behind me. I reached in my pocket for my phone, pulling it out and making my way to the contacts.
I hesitated before calling Tony, putting my phone up to my ear as my heart raced.
"Hello?"
I smiled slightly, "Tony, hey, um..." I sniffled, sighing. "Can you come get me?"
Tony paused for a second, "Um, that's not a good idea... You know that. Why? What's going on?"
"My mom and I got into a huge fight. I don't wanna stay here and I don't know anyone else around here." I paced back and forth in front of my door.
Tony sighed slightly, "Let me talk to Ashley, alright? I have to inform her about what's been going on because you know your mom is going to go to her about it anyways. I'll bring up you staying here for a bit until everything calms down, but you have to promise me something."
"Yeah, what is it?" I asked eagerly.
"You have to stop with this 'i'm in love with you' shit. I'm not trying to be mean or hurt you, Pete, but especially when my wife is in the same house, it's not gonna help either of us. I'll talk to you about it if you want, but only when I decide it's the time to sit and talk about it. Okay?"
Tony's words felt like venom coursing through my veins. I wanted so badly to tell him to fuck off and that I would find my own way, but he was right. As much as I didn't want to admit it, he was.
"I promise. I won't say anything." I half smiled as if he could see me, still pacing in a straight line from one side of my room to the next.
"Give me like... half an hour and i'll call you back, okay?" He explained.
"Alright." I removed my phone from my ear and hung up the phone, stopping in my tracks to look at the time.
~~~
I heard my phone ring beside me and I picked it up, answering immediately without looking who it is.
"Hello?" I smiled.
"Hey, Pete. So, I talked to Ashley. How long would you need to get away?" Tony asked. I heard Ashley mumbling beside him.
"Just a few days until this situation cools down." I bit my lip, nervous for what they were going to say.
Tony paused for a second while Ashley continued mumbling and then he spoke, "Ashley wants the phone. Hang on."
My stomach dropped as she was given the phone.
"Hey, Peter. Tony told me what was going on. Are you alright?" She asked in a sweet voice.
"Yeah, i'm okay." I responded.
"Tonys gonna come get you. I have the spare bedroom set up so you can stay a bit. You're free to stay as long as you want, but i'd like to talk to you in private when you get here if that's okay. Of course, you can have a bit to settle in and stuff, but I just feel like I need to have a conversation with you regarding the circumstances if that's alright."
"Yeah, yeah, totally." My hands were shaking. I couldn't pinpoint exactly why she would wanna talk to me, but I wasn't excited about it nonetheless.
She handed the phone back to Tony. "Pack some clothes and stuff and i'll be on my way." He didn't say anything else before hanging up the call.
i immediately sprung up and made my way to my dresser, throwing out clothes. I made a pile on my bed of a few outfits and then went to my closet, picking up my shoes and chargers that I always seem to break for some reason.
I threw all of it messily in a bag and threw it over my shoulder, grabbing my phone from my bed and slowly making my way downstairs. Thankfully my mother was in her room so I wouldn't have to confront her about what I was about to do.
I slipped on a pair of slides by the door and waited on the front steps for Tony's car to pull up. He lived less than a block away and I could've easily walked, but it was getting dark and I guess Tony didn't want me to be stuck walking alone at night.
Before long, bright headlights were blinding me. I squeezed my eyes shut and used my arm to shield my face, standing up. Tony turned off his lights and got out of the car, leaving it running. He walked toward me.
"Are you okay?" He asked with a concerning tone.
"I'm fine." I stated, my bag in hand. I followed him to his car, breaking off at the front of it and making my way to the passenger side. I got into his car and threw my bag in the back, buckling my seatbelt.
We didn't say anything to each other. Instead, he turned his lights back on and turned his head to back out of the driveway.
