I couldn't express how much I didn't want to have the conversation. I could tell that Ashley wasn't pleased with me and Tony's past.

I took a deep breath as she spoke, glancing at Tony every once in a while. I could see him shifting uncomfortably, indicating that he didn't want a part in this either.

She went on explaining how she wasn't comfortable with our past, but since it was so long ago, she wasn't worried. She went on about how in love Tony was with her, and I could feel the slightest bit of jealousy build up inside of me.

Once she finished speaking, she smiled and placed her hands on the table.

"Other than that, you're welcome here for as long as you need. We have plenty of room. I'm gonna go ahead and head to bed." She turned to Tony, standing up and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Join me when you're ready."

She kissed his cheek and walked toward the hallway, leaving Tony and me alone.

"That was.. uncomfortable." I leaned back in my chair.

Tony didn't speak, but instead just sighed.

"What's up?" I turned to him and furrowed my brows.

"I've just been doing a lot of thinking and all of this is kind of a lot." Tony chewed his bottom lip.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked concerningly.

"I think that I'll be fine. I just need some time to adjust to all of this. If I'm being honest, it's really weird having you back here, but it's a good weird. It's comforting in a way." Tony smiled slightly, looking forward.

I smiled and looked down at the table, "Yeah, I get what you mean."

"I should really get to bed, though. I have work tomorrow." Tony stood up and placed his hand on my shoulder, "Goodnight, Pete."

I looked up at him and my cheeks turned red. I smiled, "Goodnight."

He removed his hand and walked down the hall, leaving me alone sitting at the kitchen table. I couldn't move. I was so embedded in my thoughts, replaying that moment over and over again. It was small, but it meant the absolute world to me.

I was awoken by my phone buzzing beside the guest room bed. I groaned lightly and shifted, trying to wake myself up. My arm reached out towards my phone and I picked it up, squinting my eyes to look at it.

"What the hell is Tony calling for at 7 in the morning?" I groaned again and answered it, setting myself up.

"Hello?" I called out in a groggy voice.

"Hey, Pete. Good morning." Tony talked cheerfully.

I smiled softly, "Good morning. What's up?"

"Do you wanna go do something tonight? Just me and you?" Tony asked.

I paused for a second, mostly in shock, the other part in excitement. "Uh, sure. What's the occasion?"

"Oh, there isn't one. I just thought since you've been back in town for so long and we haven't really talked, we could properly catch up." I could feel his smile from across the phone and I was sure he could feel mine.

"Yeah, that's fine. Is Ashley okay with that?" I asked.

"I doubt it, but she'll be fine," Tony reassured me. "Just be ready at around 5, okay?"

"Alright, yeah. I'll be ready." I grinned.
