Wanda took a deep breath and raised her hands to Steve's temples, red energy emanating from her fingertips. She jolted as it hit her, letting out a small, horrified gasp.

"What's wrong?" Vision asked kindly.

"Don't worry, I can handle it." she said firmly, straining a little. "It's just a lot."

Barnes' heart was pounding, anxiety flooding through his system. Should he be doing this?

Can't turn back now.

"How can we join you, Wanda?" Vision asked loudly.

"Grab my hands!" Wanda gasped, reaching out. Barnes and Vison both grabbed ahold and were thrown into Steve's mind.

"BUCKY, NO!" He screamed, torn apart, raw, watching Bucky fall from the train. Tears spilled from his eyes without warning.

And they were in Peggy's office, Peggy and Howard looking at him in pity as he sat there in a chair, hunched over, crying so hard he was screaming. Howard put a hand on his shoulder and he recoiled.

"We know how much Sergeant Barnes meant to you."

"No," Steve choked out, trying to quiet himself for a moment,  "You can't possibly understand."

Howard and Peggy shared a look. "Steve.." Peggy said, "You and him were very close. We do understand that."

"We wanted to get married," Steve muttered, "After the war."

"What?"

"Bucky and I. We wanted to get married after, somehow, even if it wasn't really legal. Anything. God, I miss him."

"Steve, what are you saying?" Peggy asked.

"I loved him," Steve said, looking her right in the eyes. "Not like a brother. It was a hell of a lot deeper than that."

He put his head in his hands. "That's it. I'm done. Captain America will probably be killed for being a homosexual. That's just great. Knew it was going to happen eventually."

Peggy and Howard seem to be trying to gather their words, but everything goes dark, and when Steve opens his eyes again, he's at the bottom of a deep hole, but dirt keeps falling on his face.

A grave. He's in a grave.

He looks to his left and screams, because Bucky is there next to him, and he's not moving.

The dirt covers him completely and everything is dark again.

And now he's floating in a void, feeling more peaceful than he has for some time- he can't get a grip on what amount of time it was exactly; the days when things moved in a linear path are starting to fade from his mind.

"Well, this is interesting."

A voice. A person. He doesn't recognize it.

"I was looking for weird stuff, and I'm guessing I just found something."

A blurry figure, in the distance. Walking on the air like it's nothing.

"Who are you?" Steve finally asks.
