Two Months Later
Feliciano was on his way to Roderich, specifically the home he grew up in. But he didn't come alone. In his arms, he was holding a bundle. He held back his tears as much as he could. It hurt to do what he was going to do, but he knew it was for the best. Roderich could take good care of him. He was responsible, strong, intelligent, and most importantly, independent. Exactly the right personality traits for a parent to have.
Feli had the whole conversation planned out. A fake explanation and everything. It would make the others despise him more, but he was ready to handle it. He only worried about it hurting Ludwig more.
N. Italy🇮🇹: "Well, at least he will for sure not regret the break up once he finds out about this."
Feliciano swallowed the lump in his throat when he got to the door, getting ready to hold back his emotions. Then, he knocked. After all of this was over and done with, he could focus on being the descendant of his grandfather that he should have become centuries ago.
Surprisingly, Eliziveta opened the door, clearly not expecting to see him.
Hungary🇭🇺: Feliciano. What brings you here?
Feliciano only held out the bundle, and spoke up, trying to mask his emotions. However, it was much easier than he thought.
Eliziveta gasped when she saw the face under the blanket, and reached out.
Hungary🇭🇺: Wh—Italy... what is...?
Italy did his best not to look at the bundle, it only would have made it hurt more.
N. Italy🇮🇹: Please take him... I'm not able to care for him the way I should. I know I don't have the responsibility or maturity to be able to do it.
Eliziveta stuttered out her response.
Hungary🇭🇺: W—What about Ludwig? Isn't he...?
Feliciano shook his head, nearly losing his composure from the shame. And catching Eliziveta off guard.
N. Italy🇮🇹: No, Ludwig is not his biological father. Let's just say there was an encounter with another random person while I tried to reunite Gilbert and Ludwig.
Feliciano hated how it was true. But there were more details than that.
Eliziveta gently took the bundle in her arms.
Hungary🇭🇺: Have you at least given him a name...?
Feli shook his head.
N. Italy🇮🇹: I couldn't get too attached.
Hungary🇭🇺: "He's starting to sound heartless..." Alright, is there anything else...? I don't think there must be a rush...?
Eliziveta was hoping for Feliciano to suddenly take it all back. Or to at least say goodbye to the child. But he just shook his head, and then left, only bursting into sobs when he was out of sight and out of earshot. He had to be strong, this was what everyone wanted from him as a nation. As a descendant if the Roman Empire.
Eliziveta frowned, disappointed in Feliciano. Not just as she saw that there was no way could tell if they were Ludwig's, with Feliciano's brown hair and all, but because of how nonchalant he was about giving his own flesh and blood up.
She sighed and went inside, at least it was easy for her to come up with a way to take care of the child despite the short notice.
Roderich walked into the hall and saw the bundle, immediately looking shocked and suspicious.
Austria🇦🇹: El—
Hungary🇭🇺: Call Ludwig and Gilbert.
As the pair expected, it wasn't easy to tell Ludwig that Feli had a kid that wasn't his. But he seemed to be in a large state of denial when they tried to tell him that it was infidelity.
Germany🇩🇪: Nein... He wouldn't do that... he's not that kind of person...
Roderich sighed.
Austria🇦🇹: Ludwig, I'm sorry to say this, but apparently he is that kind of person. I have no idea where we went wrong to make him think it was okay to do such a thing. But I really am sorry.
Ludwig stared at the ground. He hated admitting that there was a chance that Feliciano's child wasn't his. The timing matched up, but with the scenario described, the timing for just as well.
Germany🇩🇪: "He wouldn't. There has to be another explanation... there has to. This doesn't make any sense, Feli wouldn't..."
Ludwig looked up and reached his arms out.
Germany🇩🇪: May I see them...?
Eliziveta glanced at Roderich.
Hungary🇭🇺: But, Ludwig, you know he isn't...
Germany🇩🇪: I don't care, let me hold them... Bitte...
Eliziveta sighed and handed the bundle to Ludwig. After examining their features, he could clearly recognize parts of his ex. And he would have been lying if he said that he didn't feel an almost immediate attachment to the child.
Germany🇩🇪: Do you have an idea of who the other parent might be if you're sure it's not me...?
Eliziveta shook her head, but Roderich spoke up.
Austria🇦🇹: Well, Feliciano called me around the possible time of conception, saying he had a bad run-in with a USSR soldier. Which earned a scolding about keeping his head down. But he didn't give any details on what happened.
When he heard that, Ludwig's eyes lit up with horror knowing what happened to Feliciano. It explained why he had gotten so quiet and distant.
Prussia remembered one of the guards who bragged about beating up a weak nation, among other disgusting things.
Germany🇩🇪: Is it alright if I take him? I may not be biologically related, but I still want to care for him. I think I know what happened to Feli.
The pair hesitated before agreeing, Ludwig leaving with Gilbert pacing next to him, and a bundle in his arms.
Prussia🇩🇪: So, how do you plan on handling this, West?
Germany🇩🇪: Well, I'm going to talk to Feli, of course. That sort of explains why he got distant in the relationship... And I have a feeling about what else contributed to him getting distant. So I think I know what to talk about. Feli probably needs comfort more than anything else after what he went through... especially after I unintentionally contributed to him feeling alone.
Gilbert wasn't sure if he should leave the pair alone to talk. But he was aware that Ludwig wasn't going to give up on at least giving Feli closure on the situation.
