Zelda's POV

"Next time, tell your dogs not to cuff me." Cardan snapped at Master Rubi.

I was startled at the way he spoke to her. I thought back to when I first saw him. Terrified as Paya and I cornered him, as he told us where to find Link. I saw him as weak and scared, wanting help escaping. I realized now it really was all an act, he wasn't weak or scared. Here, he had power.

"My apologies Cardan, after our last meeting I thought you truly turned against me. I see now how wrong I was. Was she trying to run?" Her eyes met mine.

"Somehow she took down three Yigas on her own. Surely not weak." He replied and I tugged at my wrist in his hand, starting to fear this wasn't an act. The fear on my face became genuine.

That's when my eyes moved to her hand, the same orb was placed in her palm. There was a dark glow from it. I remembered Link and calmed knowing there was still no sign of him being near. She started slowly walking down towards us and I tugged at his hand more. As she neared he quickly stepped back.

"Dear Cardan please, you can trust me. You know I never wanted to hurt you." Her voice was soft and gentle.

"Call them off and I'll give her to you." Cardan ordered and he tugged me to my feet and behind him. He reached to his belt pulling out a dagger that he found on the Yigas we took down.

"Call who off? You see anyone else in this room? Give me the Princess now boy." She snapped at him moving closer. He backed up from her reach and I moved back with him.

"I am no fool, call off the Yigas that are hiding from us. Do not forget that I know your ways." He held his dagger towards her. "You don't think I can bring this whole clan to ruin? What I could do having the princess? Why would I give her to you."

Please tell me those words were part of his act. I squeezed the back of his right arm in response looking for any reassurances. He reached back and gently squeezed my hand as if trying to keep my trust.

"What is this nonsense you speak of. Bring us to ruin? Do you forget who you are? Who raised you? I loved you Cardan, cared for you day and night. Trying to heal you and yet this is how you repay me?" As she spoke, I felt as if I could feel true heartbreak.

"I never asked you to care for me. Never wanted you to and I have always resented you." He snapped back. "I am not on your side and never will be."

"How dare-" Her words were cut off as the door behind us began to open.

Panic filled me as we saw no one standing on the other side. I looked back to Master Rubi, her face tense as she slowly neared us and the now open door. In unison, our hearts stopped as we heard footsteps quickly approaching from behind her, Cardan grabbed onto me tighter until we saw who those steps belonged to.

Quickly Master Rubi spun around as Link aimed at her with the Master Sword. She quickly moved away, dodging it. Without letting go of the orb, she quickly reached for a small dagger on her side.

"I would rethink your plan there, Master Link." She sneered towards him.

"I was about to say the same to you, Master Rubi." His sword pointed straight towards her.

His eyes never left her gaze but I could see the now dark blue that filled them. His eyes were strained and tense, I missed the light that was once in them yet, they still brought me comfort. I reached down and grabbed the dagger from one of the Yiga we attacked back in the corridors and slowly moved away from being behind Cardan. The orb had to be removed from her grasp. One squeeze and I feared what would happen to Link, what he would become. Behind Link, another figure walked in with a bow pointed straight at the two, Teba.
