Zelda's POV
A day. Link and I slept for a full day. When I awoke, the sun was greeting me through the window of Riju's palace. I gently pulled myself out of Link's arms and crawled out from under the linens. The heat from the Gerudo Desert warmed me as I stretched and began to change into the extra outfit Riju had picked for me.
After putting on the outfit, I realized how different my normal attire was from the Gerudos and was left feeling a little exposed. The skirt was a dark blue with a golden belt that wrapped around my hips, connecting at the top of my right hip. The whole right side of the skirt was completely open, barely covering any of my hip or front of my right leg. The top felt even more extreme, being blue and gold to match the skirt and only covering my chest with thick golden straps holding it up around my shoulders. The golden sandals were the mildest part of the outfit. Once dressed, I brushed out my short hair and braided the front of both sides.
Before leaving the room, I walked back over to the bed where Link was sleeping. Though I should wake him so he could eat and then figure out exactly what to do now, I knew how tired he was and how much he deserved his rest. I rubbed my hand gently down his shoulder as I pressed a soft kiss to his left side temple. His eyelids fluttered a little and he muttered something that I couldn't quite understand, he was indeed still very tired.
"I'll be right outside talking with Riju, rest for as long as you need." I whispered to him and pressed another kiss to his cheek. He gave a small nod and within seconds his breathing evened out again and I pulled the covers over his shoulder.
As I went to leave the room, a slight feeling of fear tugged at me making it difficult to leave his side. Safe, we are safe here. I calmly thought to myself. I can leave this room and he will be safe. I thought again, doing my best to convince myself. I looked back once more at him asleep in the bed and as much as I wanted to wrap myself back up in his arms, I pushed through the urge and stepped out of the bedroom.
I was greeted with a silent palace. I walked through listening to nothing but the sounds of Gerudo around me. Riju and her guards were no where to be found inside as I wondered about, taking in the beautiful scenery of her home. I finally reached the front entrance of her home and made my way down the stairs into Gerudo Town. In front of me, I spotted her speaking with two other figures. With a closer look I recognized the figures, Impa and Paya. Quickly I moved closer to them and when Paya spotted me, a shaky hand covered her mouth as tears filled her eyes. She ran over to meet me and squeezed me tightly as I hugged her back, then my eyes met Impa's, I could feel the anger from here and so could Paya.
"You should start running now." Paya whispered in my ear with a slight giggle.
"I think I fear her more than I ever feared the Yiga Clan." I whispered back.
"Want me to grab the knight?" She slowly pulled away and Impa started inching closer.
"No, Link is smart enough to know not to fight Impa, all though I would pay to see that." I couldn't hold back my slight chuckle.
"My money is on Impa." She chuckled too as Impa finally reached us crossing her arms. I faced her and gave her a wide smile.
"Oh Impa-"
"Don't you ever run from me like that again! I had direct orders from your knight and you completely disobeyed me!" She stomped her foot, Paya made the smart decision of taking a few steps away.
"Well you should know better than to try and keep me from him and lie to your Princess." I stomped my foot back.
She rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to continue her argument but I cut her off by stepping forward and pulling her into a hug. After a moment she dropped her grudge and hugged me back, letting out a huge sigh.
