Ambivalence

Months have passed since James asked Charlie to hangout after school. They started hanging out in the library during lunch and sometimes after school, them wanting to get their project done early so they had more time focus on other things Sometimes Charlie would have to wait after his practices, just sitting on the bleachers, working on their project. Well it had started out as them, but randomly one or all of their friends would join them, sitting down by them and working on their own work or goofing off. After the project was done they would hangout without talking or working on school work, hanging out like real friends, and it was weird at first, but it was something that worked for them.

They had hung out for months with it being now December. They hung out whenever they got a chance. If it was him sitting on the bench of her softball games, or her sitting on the sidelines of his basketball games. Their friends intertwined with each other, group hangouts were the major thing that happened with the group.

James and Charlie had become good friends during these past couple months. Surprisingly James and Camden had gotten along and became best friends during these moths, they both had the same sense of humor, and they both liked the same sports teams. Derek, James' younger brother, became good friends with Charlie. Her becoming the girl he would go to when it came to advice with girls. He had started talking to a girl named Paige during this time, he really wanted to impress her and so Charlie was his go-to-girl. Charlie met James' best friend who was named Jeff Collins, he was the person that she had to impress to make him like her. He was protective of the Hale brothers, more specifically James, they were closest in age, and so they were best friends.

Charlie had made a good friend in one of Derek's friend named Michael Cameron. They were somewhat friends in their Sophomore year, but they became the closest these past few months since they hung out a lot. Michael had an older twin brother named Jordan, they were very different from each other. Jordan was crazy and never thought before he acted, always getting in fights with people, using his fists instead of his words. Michael was the nicer twin, he never raised his voice, never spoke out of turn, was always in a book, but he was still in sports and had many friends just like Jordan.

Emmerson during this time had gotten a boyfriend who was named Ethan Montgomery, he was a senior like her, he was on the same baseball team as James. They were both on Varsity and had known each other for years. They were toxic for each other but they had made it work, always fighting but always making up at the end of the day. Charlie had noticed that during these months that Bella and Camden had been acting different with each other, but not letting other people see it. Charlie had noticed the glances that one would share when they stared at the other, when the other wasn't looking. Bella would ask questions about him when she was with Charlie, and Camden would do the same. Camden went out of his way sometimes in the morning to go and give her a ride to school.

Paul had been distant, hanging out with the group but being more quiet than normal, being more anti-social than his normal bubbly self. April was still her cheery self, she started hanging out with a new guy during thanksgiving break. She met him through some family, he was at her cousins birthday party. They were keeping it quiet, she didn't talk about him much, but when she did it would be continuous. All Charlie and their friends knew is that he was a very secretive person, his family didn't approve of him or his siblings dating anyone, only them focusing on their family and their school work.

But Charlie had created some good friendships in those months, but she still wondered why it had taken this long for the people she had gone to school with, to finally become friends and associate themselves together.
