me- I'm here waiting for you

I shot my dad a text as I got out of my car and walked into the airport.

I looked calm but inside I was going crazy. I had a final tomorrow and that too of chemistry and then I was excited and anxious to meet dad after months.

I notice him walking out almost instantly because of his imitating 'captain' posture and he was bald so he stood out pretty well.

"Hey, dad!" I smile and hug him tightly. he returns my gesture.

"Hey, doll. look at you! you almost reach my chin now!" I roll my eyes playfully.

"c'mon we'll go out to eat lunch out and then have dinner with mom" he nodded and I helped him with his luggage

"you are growing up doll. I remember when you were 5 and you tried to help me move these bags and you fell back when you tried to push them," he said sadly.

I knew the meaning behind his words. he is wishing he could've been around more. I grimaced

"well I will always be your daughter" I smiled

he was trying and I was helping him. hell, even mom was trying to get to know me! I guess they just realized that I'm gonna be an adult soon and they might not have enough time with me.

we got inside the car and I started driving. dad was constantly looking over at me making sure I was driving properly. I laughed inwardly

"what do you wanna get?" I ask

he thought for a second "hmm I am craving some chick fila" I laughed but turned to the chick fil parking lot.

we went to order our food and the boy behind the counter smirked when he saw me

"what can I get for you beautiful?" I shifted uncomfortably

"thank you, she is my daughter. what were you saying to her?" dad stared down at the guy. I smirked as he gulped

"karlissa go find us seats, I'll get our food" I obeyed and walk to some empty seats.

spending time with him gave me a warm feeling inside. I missed us.

dad sat down and scowled, I laughed "what did he do?" I ask

"he had the audacity to ask if you were single. I told him no but he still wrote his number on this napkin" he sneered

"wow that's desperate" I laugh. I laugh at the number and decided to send lev a pic of it and tell him what happened. he replied in minutes

levy- he gave that in front of your dad?!
