*I don't own HTTYD*
*Ember's POV*
I curled up into a tighter ball as the pounding in the door continued. The boxes that I blocked the door with shook as Hiccup pounded against the door.
"Ember, please let us in," Hiccup begged.
"Go away!" I screamed. Sobs shook my body as I placed my head on my knees.
At first, the pounding stopped. Thank Thor, they gave up. It would be better if they left me. So that I can be here alone and not hurt anyone. Suddenly, the crates exploded as a plasma blast blew through the door, a giant hole where it once stood. Hiccup slowly stepped into the room and looked at all of the crates of supplies in shock. Then his expression turned into horror as he looked at me. He gasped at the sight of me and I could tell he wanted to run out of the room. I turned my head away from his gaze.
"Please," I begged. "I don't want to hurt you." Hiccup was silent for a few moments.
"You could never hurt me." He said, confusing me. Does he not know what I've done? He wouldn't be like this if he knew. I turned my head to look at Hiccup and he had a smile on his face. His eyes held a look I couldn't place. It was much warmer than sympathy or pity. It was as if he was okay with what I've done. But, he couldn't be.
"It's okay, Ember." He took a step towards me. "Everything will be okay."
"No, it's not!" I screamed. "You don't know what I've done!"
"Yes, I do!" Hiccup said bluntly.
"Then why aren't you ashamed? Disgusted? Why are you acting so accepting?"
"Because I know you," he said. "I know that you wouldn't do that on your own accord. You're not a monster. You're Ember. You're an incredible person. I know you don't think you are, but I see it in everything you do. You're wonderful."
I was absolutely speechless. This boy just took all the horrible things that I've done and brushed them aside. Any normal person would have run the other way the moment they saw me. Tears welled up in my eyes as Hiccup slowly walked closer and sat down beside me.
"It's okay," Hiccup whispered. "Everything will be okay." The dam broke.
Sobs shook my body again. Hiccup gently wrapped his arm around my shoulder and brought me towards him. I hid my face in his shoulder as he ran his fingers through my hair, careful of the blood that caused it to tangle and clot in some places. I grieved for all of the Vikings. I grieved for all of the innocent lives I took away.
"Shh... It's alright." Hiccup whispered again. After all of the water left my eyes, I pulled away from him and wiped the tear stains from my face. "Ready to go home?" He stood up and held out his hand. I nodded and let him help me stand up and we walked out hand in hand. Just as friends obviously. But when we left the room I was held captive in, I saw someone I never expected to see again.
"Dad?"
The full-blooded Burning Phoenix turned his head towards me and his expression went soft.
"Ember," he said softly. I rushed towards him and threw my arms around his neck. He placed his arm around me, returning the hug. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too. I thought you were dead."
"Everyone seems to think that. I feared you would be dead too."
"Can't kill us that easily."
"You sound just like your mother."
"What are they talking about? Can we just go?" Snotlout interrupted. Dad growled at the Viking teen.
"Yeah, we can go," I said. Hiccup stepped beside me and grabbed my hand.
"I'm so glad you're safe." He said with a smile. I smiled back at him. Suddenly, we both heard someone clear their throat. We turned to see Astrid with her hand balled into a fist over her mouth, hiding a smile. Hiccup starting blushing and stammering for no reason. But I took the hint. I moved away from Hiccup and towards the edge of the boat. I never figured that Astrid would be the jealous type, but I honestly would turn into one if Hiccup was mine. After that awkward moment, everyone started to prepare for the trip back to Berk.
Suddenly, Someone wrapped their arm around me and pulled me backward. A sharp object was inserted into the small of my back. I felt something snap and I lost all feeling all over my body. The mysterious person shoved me aside and I landed hard on the boat deck. He then climbed onto the boat.
"I told you I couldn't guarantee she would be alive."
