Hey guys, so this chapter is going to have a warning with it. This chapter contains very graphic and detailed scenes of violence, so if gore is something you are not okay with, then please don't read the chapter. I'll also put another warning when we are nearing the graphic violence scenes. But for the convenience of you lovely readers, I drew a less graphic picture of Ember's actions so if you choose not to read the violent scenes, you can still understand what's happening in the story. With that being said, onto the chapter!!!
*Ember's POV*
Ever since we pulled away from Berk's shore, I've been sitting silently in the brig. They didn't have me tied up for some reason. I guess they knew I wouldn't try to escape. Not if it meant endangering everyone in Berk. But, everyone is safe now. That's all that I care about. No matter what Sloan and his people do to me.
"Hello, Ember." Sloan said as he walked through the door.
"You actually know my name," I chuckled dryly. "I figured all you knew me by 'hybrid' or 'disgusting hybrid' or my favorite 'monster that shouldn't exist in the first place.'"
Sloan chuckled.
"While I still think those things, I figured it would be more hospitable of me to call you by your name since you'll be staying with us for awhile."
"Gee thanks. What's your next nice deed? Feed me eels?" I said, sarcastically.
"I could if I intended to harm you."
"Cut to the chase, Sloan. What do you want?"
"I see we're eager," Sloan said, walking closer to me. "I think you know what want."
"Revenge for destroying your village, and to wipe out the Burning Phoenix. I get that, but why take me captive. I thought you would just destroy Berk and be done with it.
"You're not wrong," Sloan smirked. "I did think about just destroying that island and every traitor on it. Take away from you what you and your kind took away from me. But, that would be too easy. You see, for the past two years I've been trying to rebuild my village. Supplies were scarce, and I figured my allies would help us in our time of need.
But word travels fast, especially when one of the most feared tribes turns weak. We tried seeking help, but they either turned us away or attacked us."
"So what does this have to do with me?"
Sloan picked me up, and slammed me into the wall. His hand squeezing around my throat. Black dots scattered around my vision as my windpipe got smaller.
"You really are that clueless now? Figured you were smart enough to figure it out by now. You've been hanging around humans for far too long. They made you weak,"
Sloan let go of my throat, and I put as much distance between me and him as possible.
"But, that'll be fixed soon. You will finally see what you are, and I'll kill two birds with one stone."
There was a knock at the door before one of Sloan's men stepped into the room.
"Sir. We're about to land in Shamanic Island."
"Excellent," Sloan said with a smirk, and making his way towards the door. "Tie Ember's wings before she leaves the room. We don't want her flying away too soon."
As ordered, a couple of guards tied my wings together and to my body. They started to go numb as the guards rushed me out the door, and down to an island I've never seen before. All of Sloan's boats were empty, with only a handful of men and women at his side.
We hike up the side of a hill covered in dead grass. At the top, a Viking village could be seen. Sloan's guards pushed me in front of all of the towards the village.
"Roar." Sloan instructed.
"What? Wh-RRRRAAAARRRHHH!!!" I screamed as one of the guards whipped me across my back, knocking me down. My road echoed across the island. But, nothing happened. Just as the guard was about to strike me again, we heard a rumbling noise heading towards us. Followed with the sound of angry Vikings yelling.
"Fall back, Stonehedge!" Sloan yelled, signaling his people to run back down the hill. I tried to follow them, but anytime I got close, someone would push me closer to the mob.
This is where the graphic scenes start. If you don't like violence, don't read the rest of the chapter.
"Kill the dragon!" The mob chanted as they got closer to me. Before I could distance myself from the mob, they surrounded me with full intent to complete their animalistic mission.
"Stop! Please!" I cried, but the mob kept pummeling me with their weapons. Gashes quickly took their place on my arms, legs, and face. If it wasn't for the breastplate I was wearing, they would have already pierced my heart. I did everything I could to protect myself, but no matter what I did the number of wounds increased.
Flames started to creep into the corners of my eyes. My chest tightened in panic.
No... No no no no no no! Not now! Not here! Not them!
Their savage noises got louder.
I haven't had one in almost two years. I can fight it. I can't hurt them!
My breath quickened as I desperately tried to get away from the mob.
Breathe! Think about anything else but violence!
I...
I can't stop it!!!
I blew dragon fire upward towards the mob, causing them to back away from me. They should have backed away a few minutes ago. Now it's too late.
A foolish Viking charged at me, sword at hand. I grabbed his arm, and tore it completely off his body, him dropping his sword as a result. The man screamed in pain while the rest of the mob gasped in shock. The mob charges at me again, I pick up the fallen man's sword and slice a straight line through the front line of Vikings. They all fall back onto their comrades. Then I took the sword behind my back and cut the top that bound my wings. The rope falls in a shriveled heap, and my wings open widely. The Vikings faces go white, like they were looking upon Hela herself.
They will shortly. She will punish them for all of their wrong doings against dragon kind.
I fly into the sky and aim fire at the scurrying group of cowards, scorching a majority of them into a crisp. All of them fall down in a massive bonfire. A Viking woman tries to crawl away from the fire, her legs scorched black.
"Please..." She begged as I stood over her. "Don't do this... I have a husband... and a child... They need me.."
I pick her up by her throat. She screams at the sudden movement, and the tight grasp on her windpipe. I smirk at her pain.
"Don't worry," I said. "They'll join you soon."
Then I firmly grasp her shoulder and push her body downward. Her head coming apart from the rest of her. I dropped her head and flew over to the village to continue my well deserved justice.
I set every building in fire.
Ripped throats out of some Vikings.
Dropped others 100 feet into the ocean.
Not even despicable Viking children were safe from my wrath. They deserved it. Once I was satisfied, I began to fly back to the shore.
It's done... It's done... What have I done?!
The realization hits me so hard The my flying wavers and I crash into the hill where this all started. Tears well in my eyes as I shakily look at the damage.
The damage I caused.
"You really outdid yourself, Ember. You did more damage here than you did to Stonehedge. I never knew you had this much power."
I couldn't say anything to him. Just hang my head in Shane as I tried to control my shaking body and breathe.
"Take her back to the ship. We got the supplies we needed."
