We descended two floors, the elevator doors opened up to a large fighting mat with workout gear surrounding the edge. Separating the gear from the mat was a large track running around the whole room. To either end of the room was a set of double doors, one for women and the other for men. Nat and I walked over to the right side, pushing open the heavy doors. The room had a wall of lockers on the left side with some changing stalls on the right. The wall came in a couple feet, separating the locker area from the sinks and stalls for the bathroom. On the far back wall was a line of shower stalls. Nat moved to one of the lockers with her name on it as I slid into one of the changing stalls. I pulled my leggings and sports bra out of my backpack, digging for the athletic shirt I thought I had thrown in there. After pulling out all the items in my back to no avail, I decided to just go without it. These guys are Avengers, they're professional. Right? I shimmied into the tighter clothing, tuning out of whatever thoughts were wandering through the other's minds. I stuffed my backpack into an empty locker and moved to the sink to put my hair up in a half ponytail, my short hair was just too short to be tucked into a full one. I heard the locker room doors open and close as Natasha moved back out to the training area.
When I stepped out into the room again, Nat and Steve were wrapping their hands in the middle of the mat as a blue streak lapped around the track. I tried to time my walk across the track so I wouldn't step into Pietro's running body. As soon as I thought I was in the clear, I felt hands grab onto me and lift me up. Pietro's feet stumbled slightly below us as he scooped me up into his arms.
"Princesa, I almost rammed into you," His accent made the line even smoother than it sounded normally. I looped my arms around his neck as he raced around the track with me a couple more times. When he stopped, he slowly lowered me to the ground. I gripped onto his biceps as I tried to regain my stability, my legs feeling like jello below me. He moved his hands to my hips as I gained back my balance.
"Feeling a little unstable now are we?" His mouth curled up into a smirk as Nat and Steve began to spar. They make quite the pair, Steve's mind wandered as Natasha nailed him in the jaw.
"Are we going to train or what?" I released my grip from Pietro. He raised his eyebrows at me as I moved to punch him. His blur of a hand caught my punch before it landed anywhere near where I was aiming for.
"Too slow," He raised his arm to quickly jab me in the side, his hand stopping short just an inch away, I smirked at him as the hand raised up to his own face. He slapped himself hard against his own face, red stinging on his cheek. His eyes grew wide as I kicked my leg into the side of his, knocking him to the ground. I sat straddled over his chest, pinning his hands down to the side of his face.
"Who's too slow now?" His eyes traveled up and down my body, if this is what happens when I'm slow then I guess I need to stop speeding around. I felt his hands begin to vibrate under mine as he moved them back and forth at a speed quicker than light. I lost my grip and felt his hands shoot up to my waist, flipping me underneath him. One of his hands held mine above my head, the other holding himself up just next to my ear. His right leg sat in between mine, bent ever so slightly to help hold himself above me as his left leg rested on the right side of my body.
I could feel my breathing intensify as he leaned down to whisper in my ear, "What, you didn't see that coming?" Just inches away, as he breathed in his tight long sleeve shirt grazed my bare skin. My brain raced for a solution as we remained locked on each other's eyes. I felt a smirk grow across my face as Steve walked over, lifting Pietro off of me and landing a punch to his stomach. Steve let go of Pietro as he winced, Nat was laughing her ass off from the other corner of the mat.
"What, you didn't see that coming?" I whispered in Pietro's ear as I walked past him. Shit, she's good. I listened intently to his thoughts as he planned his next move carefully. He lunged towards me, speeding up the closer he got. I felt his direction shift slightly followed by a thud on the mat as he fell down flat.
How did she know? "Hey, Elle." Steve and Nat walked closer after watching the fall, "How did you know he was going to do that?" Pietro stood up from next to me, groaning in pain as he rose.
"Well, he thought about what he was going to do before he did it. Like, on the mat earlier, he just reacted but he thought about running up to me to knock me down." I explained, giving Pietro a hard pat on the back as he looked at me in bewilderment. I didn't even know I thought that through. "So I can usually stop someone from hurting me if they have a plan but if they are acting on instinct it doesn't work."
I thought she said she could only control someone if she was looking them in the eyes, "I thought-" Nat started to ask the question she had just thought to herself.
"So, once I have looked someone in the eyes I can control them if they are close by. For example, I looked Steve in the eyes earlier so that's how I was able to control him a minute ago." She's good, Nat thought to herself as Steve nodded beside her.
"Round one, Elle." Pietro commented as he rubbed his stomach that was probably bruised from Steve's punch. We continued to spar with each other for another hour before we were all sweaty and panting. I flopped down onto the mat, watching the ceiling fans go round and round as the cool mat pressed up against my mat. I felt a body plop down next to me, breathing heavily from our round of combat. I had taught the team how to act on instinct while still making smart moves, they were still getting the hang of it.
"Wanna get lunch with me?" The body next to me barely breathed out, Pietro.
"Sure, but you gotta help me up." I lightly hit his body with my arm, signaling for him to stand up. But the mat feels so nice. Pietro moved slowly, grunting as he pulled himself from the cool surface. I lifted my arms as he pulled me up to my feet, my body sticking slightly to the mat due to my sweat covered skin.
"Meet me in the lobby in 30?" Pietro brushed his hair out of his face, a few strands sticking to the beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Sure." I trudged over to the locker room to take a quick shower. I decided to keep the water cool, washing away the sweaty smell of a workout. I changed back into the shorts and t-shirt, glancing in the mirror to brush my hair. Little beads of water dripped from my still damp hair as I moved into the elevator, pushing the bottom button. Thoughts that don't belong to me become louder the closer I get to the more populated areas of the building.

A/N:
Some flirty moments between Elle and Pietro, ya gotta love it. I'm honestly obsessed with their dynamic and love their snarky but flirty nature. Also, Elle's eyes glow blue (like her eye color) when she is mind controlling someone. I also imagine that Elle can only hear the present and immediate thoughts of those around her. She can't like search through their brain for memories or anything like that just by being in proximity.
How do we feel about Steve and Nat??
