"So." I finally blurted out, just wanting to break the silent atmosphere. He looked up at me with a slightly shocked expression as I waited for him to say something in return.
"So?" He raised his eyebrows and tilted his head just a little to the side.
"What are we going to do today?" I gave him a wide smile as I slid my empty plate towards him. He shrugged his shoulders, placing the plates into the sink for future us to clean.
"What would you like to do today, Princessa?" He leaned across the counter, the distance between us shrinking.
"Well, I've never been to New York before." I smirked and cocked an eyebrow at him. He sighed, standing back up.
"It's too dangerous right now for us to be out in the public." He shook his head. I knew he was right but I really did want to see New York.
"What if we went in disguise?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him, biting my lip lightly.
He chuckled, "And how do you suggest we do that?" I grabbed his arm and dragged him into his bedroom. His bed was still unmade from his sudden disappearance from it last night. I dug through his suitcase as he looked at me as if I were a mad man. Alas, I found what I was looking for, a baseball cap. I threw it at him as I moved to the bathroom to put on some makeup, the perfect mask for hiding in plain sight. After some extreme contouring, I was just slightly unrecognizable to paparazzi or any other annoyances we might encounter.
"Tada!" I stood in front of him with jazz hands. A warm smile spread across his face as he stifled a laugh.
"Fair enough. Where would you like to go?" I smiled at him, trading my bulky backpack for a simple, black purse. I waited eagerly behind Pietro as he locked up the house, opening the passenger side door to the car for me.
"First stop, Time Square." I buckled myself in, resting my black high-top converse on the dash as he drove off. We winded through the twists and traffic of New York; I kept my eyes locked out the window as the voices of people's thoughts grew louder inside my head. Every once in a while I would look over at Pietro, a slight smile hidden in his stubble. I couldn't help but grin as I watched him hum along to the music that was blasting through the car. I watched as the skyline grew into large city buildings that towered over us, as people and yellow cabs swarmed through the streets and sidewalks. The gray sky added to the city's slightly gloomy atmosphere.
Pietro pulled into a small parking garage on the edge of the busy streets, expensive cars lined the parking spots. Wow, a garage for the high-payers. He pulled into a spot that was marked with a familiar A symbol.
"Wow, I didn't know I was with one of the bigshots." I teased Pietro as he typed something out on his phone.
"Well, being an Avenger does have its perks." He smirked as he put his phone away and stepped out of the car. I did the same and was met with a frown from Pietro.
"What?" I slung my purse over my shoulder and shut the car door behind me.
"I was going to open the door for you." He pouted from the other side of the car.
"Such a big baby," I mocked, pulling out my bottom lip a little, "Next time. Now let's go." I met him at the back of the car, taking his hand and dragging him out of the darkness of the garage. We stepped out onto the sidewalk, Pietro's blonde hair peeked out from beneath his hat. This disguise better work. He shot me a look, knowing it was the first English thought he had let out since this morning. We walked towards the buildings, laughing as we came across Avengers impersonators with horribly inaccurate costumes and suits.
