(Eskel x Lambert)

"You promise you'll be back next winter." Lambert said serious, looking at Eskel. This winter had been amazing for Lambert between him and Eskel finally admitting there love for each other after what felt like two decades. Lambert never thought that he'd ever fall in love and quiet frankly he didn't want to either but Eskel, was just everything he wanted he made him feel happy, loved and wanted and no one made him feel like that before. Eskel was so understanding and he was so patient whenever Lambert was in a bad mood. "I promise I'll be back pup" the older wolf responded in a rough tone planting a kiss to the youngest wolfs ear.

Today was the day they left for the path and Lambert was dreading it, the path was always so lonely. Even Eskel wasn't looking forward to it, he had the idea of suggesting that they go on the path together but he decided against it. He didn't wish to leave Lambert as this winter was perfect, he just couldn't wait until the next. "Say why don't we meet up during the next few months we could meet up in Velen at the tavern?" He suggested, it wouldn't hurt if they met up at least once. He wanted to see how he was doing.

Lambert bit his lower lip in thought and grinned, "Yeah sure. We'll meet up in June. I'll bring the booze." he replied with a cheeky grin, already looking forward to seeing him again to feel strong arms around him. Eskel chuckled, "Sounds like a plan, I'll see you then pup. See you soon, I love you" he smirked before kissing Lambert deeply, the younger wolf instantly wrapped his arms around the love of his life feeling his heart flutter at his words. Eskel loved him, he smiled gently before watching him mount Scorpion and take off. He sighed softly, he couldnt wait for June. He mounted his hair shortly after and gave her a kick setting off on the path.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

It was May and Eskel was doing quiet well this year he managed to get a few contracts here and there, he only had to wait another month to see Lambert again. He missed him, but he tried not to think about it too much as he didn't want to distract himself. He was on the way to kill some Griffins that were bothering a near by town the coin was decent so he couldn't say no to this offer. He slid off of Scorpion and withdrew his sword looking around cautiously as the nest was reported to be near by.

He heard it before he seen it and before he knew it the large Griffin screeched and swooped down trying to claw at Eskel. He dodged and held his sword tightly slashing the beasts chest. The Griffin hissed on pain, letting out another piercing screech before attacking Eskel again and again with its sharp blade like claws. The wolf managed to dodge a few of its attacks but the fucker was fast and he got more wounds then he'd like to. He casted Igni on the large bird and it screamed at him hitting the Witcher hardly with its tail sending him into a tree, he gasped feeling the air being knocked from his lungs feeling some of his wounds tear into bigger one's. Fuck.

He dodged the Griffin as it swiped its claws at him and he took this opportunity to slit its throat, managing to decapitate it. He grunted and breathed heavily, he needed to get to a healer he glanced down to his wounds he couldn't tell how bad it was since he was wearing his red Jerkin but judging by the fact that he was becoming lightheaded he knew it couldn't be good.

He limped over to Scorpion and heaved himself on top of his mare. "C'mon boy-" his said his voice hoarse but as Scorpion began to move he could feel his wounds tearing and more blood spilling out. He cursed lowly and pulled on his reins, he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. He slid off of the horse and collapsed down against a tree breathing heavily, as he felt blood trickling down his mouth. He tried using potions on himself to stop the pain and bleeding but it wasn't doing much.

Guess he wasn't making it out of this one, not right now. He glanced up at the sky he didn't even remember when it became dark outside he stared at the stars he couldn't remember the last time he just sat out and enjoyed the stars. Everything was so quiet and calm, his thoughts were bringing him back to Lambert. God's did he love him, he missed him. It made his heart ache that he wouldn't get to tell him how much he loved him. He wouldn't get to see Geralt either, his brother who he grew up with. He coughed feeling more blood spew out of his mouth.
