Violet started to move around the house as she started to clean again, except this time, she had someone following her at her tail. The others stood in the hallway as they swept and stared at the two. As Violet moved around, Jaxon was behind her.
"What's going on there?" Izumi asked freaked out.
"Mmmm. It's kinda like a baby duck following his mother." Max said.
"That's a terrible comparison." Izumi said.
"You have a better one?" Max asked angrily.
"Please don't start fighting." Mia asked. Violet headed over to Izumi and Max's room to carry the boxes to their room. She picked one up and started carrying it when Jaxon took the box from her. He was a very quiet person and very kind.
"Hey! You are not going to carry that. You should be in bed." Violet said.
"You're not carrying it either." he said.
"I can handle it myself." she said, but he refused to give it to her.
"Put that box down and go to bed. You are not fully recovered yet." Violet said.
"I'll be fine. Now where does this need to go?" he asked. She sighed and picked one box up and led him to her room. She put it down and so did he with his.
"I need to get all these boxes in there." Violet said pointing to the top of the closet.
"I'll go get the ladder in the hallway." Violet said. He stared at the closet. Max came in and set another box down on the floor.
"I've been meaning to talk to you." Max said.
"If it's going to be about you feeling guilty for leaving me behind, then don't." Jaxon said. Max lowered his head in shame.
"One of us had to do it. I made that decision and that's final. I will stay with Alice forever and that's that." Jaxon said.
"Look, I'll gladly take your pla-" Max said.
"No. You all need someone on the inside. I took the punishment for it all along time ago and I don't want you to feel guilty or pity me." Jaxon said.
"It's just not fair that we all are free and you and Zoë are still stuck with Alice." Max said.
"Yeah, it isn't. So don't make my pain be for nothing. Find a way to free us from this curse." Jaxon said. Max smiled at him.
"Here I come." Violet said as she brought the ladder.
"I'll go get the rest of the boxes!" Max said. She sat the ladder down but before she could get on, Jaxon stopped her.
"Mh? I can do it myself. Don't worry." Violet said confidently.
"Independent I see." Rei said leaning against the wall.
"This should be interesting to watch." he said.
"Don't make fun of me you jerk!" Violet said and climbed the ladder.
"Give me the box!" Violet said to Jaxon. Jaxon chose a light box and handed it to her as she placed it into the closet's cupboards. The end of the ladder was at her feet, not giving her something to hold onto.
"See. Another one." Violet said. Jaxon chose another light one and handed it over to her.
Wait until there comes a heavy box. What will you do then? Rei thought as he smirked.
It indeed came to the point where Jaxon didn't know what box to give her anymore.
"I'll do the rest." he said.
"What? Why? I can do it." Violet said. He took the lightest one he could find, but it would be very heavy for Violet. He handed it over carefully. He watched as she struggled to push it over her head. Her arms were shaking from the heavyweight.
I will not give in! I will show that fox that I don't need anyone's help Violet thought.
"Done." she said.
"There are still more." Rei said. Jaxon just quietly obeyed her, even though he knew he should stop her before she gets hurt. She once again took the box and struggled. This time, her body wouldn't cooperate. Her arms gave in and she lost her balance. Jaxon heard the ladder wobble and swung around to catch her. She landed in his arms. Rei caught the box with ease. He would never hear the end of it from Rina if he let something of hers break. The ladder fell on the floor and the others came rushing in at the sound.
"What happened?! What did you do to Violet, Rei?!" Max shouted.
"Don't just assume I did something." Rei said setting the box down. Violet sighed in defeat.
"Guess I do need help." she mumbled.
"Good attempt, but you failed." Rei said. Jaxon placed Violet down and she found her balance.
"Glad you're okay. Now c'mon you mut. We still need to bring over some boxes." Izumi said.
"Yeah, yeah." Max said as they left.
"Let's go wash the rest of the curtains." Rina said to Mia. Violet sat on her bed as she watched Rei give Jaxon the boxes and him putting them away. She decided to make herself useful and went to go find something else to do.
"Why are you following her around everywhere? I didn't know you were the clingy type, but then yet again, you were always greedy." Rei said.
"It's not like that." Jaxon said.
"Oh yeah? Is it now?" Rei asked.
"I just feel..." Jaxon said.
"Attached?" Rei asked.
"Mhm. I don't know if it's selfish of me to want her close to me but she just gives this strange feeling off." Jaxon said.
"That's what happens when you're locked away for so long and finally meet an outsider like her." Rei said.
"I honestly don't care for her. I can't feel what you all feel. A human is a pest and will always be a pest for me." Rei said.
"That's exactly your problem. You need to get over that. We may be different from them, but don't forget we are part human as well." Jaxon said.
"It doesn't matter what I am. They all hate us, even her. One day she will realize, that we are only a few broken souls in demon bodies and when she does, you all will be in misery. If there is one thing everyone is right about, is that we are beasts." Rei said.
"That is true and that's why I know you of all people are the most determined one to finding a way to save us." Jaxon said.
"Man, you two think too deep into it." Izumi yawned as he stood at the doorframe.
"Did you have fun eavesdropping?" Rei asked.
"I wasn't eavesdropping! I've been standing here the entire time, waiting for you two to finish." Izumi said. Violet came in to see how they were doing.
"Say, Jaxon. I heard Alice clipped your wings?" Rei asked as he tried to get Jaxon mad at him, but failed.
"Yeah. It was part of the punishment I got when you all escaped. The feathers did grow back, so I can fly again." Jaxon said.
"That's so sad, but I'm happy you recovered." Violet said.
"Alright, c'mon, let's just finish this, I'm hungry." Izumi said.
