"Welcome," her mother greeted at the door. Jaxon was the first one to arrive.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Edison," Jaxon said and gave her flowers. Violet was surprised at how good he was with parents but the real challenge was her father who didn't approve of any boy.
"You are such good-mannered. Come in," Mrs. Edison said and let Jaxon in. Violet showed him to the table where her father stood up to meet him.
"Good evening Mr. Edison. My name is Jaxon Carow," Jaxon said. He wasn't nervous in the slightest. He didn't care if her parents didn't approve of him. What would it matter to him?
"You are quite the character. I've never seen a boy who was fearless while meeting a girl's family. You're not bad," Mr. Edison said shaking hands with him. Violet let out a sigh. She didn't worry about Jaxon but the real problem just arrived at the door.
"Come in!" Mrs. Edison said cheerfully. It was Max. He looked behind him and looked around the yard.
"Is something wrong?" Mrs. Edison asked.
"No, I just could've sworn I brought someone with me. Oh well, he probably ran off," Max said.
"My name is Max Carow," he said cheerfully.
"You sure are full of energy," Mrs. Edison laughed.
"Sorry I didn't bring anything. I wanted to but I was already running late," Max said.
"No, it's fine," Mrs. Edison said.
"He's one of those," Mr. Edison sighed and Violet could feel herself getting nervous.
"Where's Izumi?" she asked Max.
"I don't know. He was right behind me. Probably got cold feet and ran off," he said.
"Oh, I hope he is okay though," she said.
"You should've seen him. I had to pick out clothes for him. If he wore what he usually does your parents would have gotten a heart attack," Max said.
"What are the chances that he would come formally dressed? You know him. He couldn't care less," Jaxon said.
"I hope he at least tries," Violet said. The doorbell rang and Violet rushed to it before her mom could. She slowly opened the door. Mia and Izumi stood on the porch. She opened the door and let them in. Mia was nicely dressed in a pink dress. The house got quiet as they stood shocked at Izumi. He wore a black turtle neck shirt with a jacket and black pants. The clothes were fine, but he wore his earrings. All of them.
"W-well, come and join the rest of us," Mrs. Edison said. Mia gave her a warm smile and Izumi just nodded. He was nervous, to say the least. He didn't want to come looking like some goodie-two-shoes. He wanted to be himself.
"My name is Mia Carow, nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Edison," she said.
"You look so adorable," Mrs. Edison said cupping Mia's face in her hands. Violet looked at Izumi, waiting for him to introduce himself but he just stood quietly.
"Ahem," Max said giving him a little shove with his elbow.
"U-hm, right. I am Izumi Carow. Nice to meet you," he said. Violet could see he was nervous and Max wanted to strangle him for wearing his earrings in front of her parents. Her father stared at him and he looked at the ground. He was very awkward when it came to socializing with other people.
"Let's sit down, shall we?" Mrs. Edison said. Izumi fiddled with his earring as he tried to get rid of his nerves. Mr. Edison was still staring at him and he felt like he was being pushed into a corner. Violet sat down next to Izumi and Max to make sure a fight doesn't break out.
