"I'm scared..." Tohru croaked "Right now, even though I hear your voice, it doesn't sound like you." she slowly began to clutch onto Kyo's arm tighter "You're in a form I've never seen, and it scares me. But.. But from now on, I want to understand." She remembered all those times when Kyo listened to Tohru's worries. Those times when he tried to encourage her in his own way. "Just like you listened to me when I'm discouraged, from now on I want you to share with me!" she tightly grasped Kyo "I want you to tell me you're hurting, or scared, or feeling weak, and let me worry about you!" she started to weep. "Because.. Because I want to keep living together! To eat, study and worry.. All those things. I want to continue to..." She couldn't stop her tears from flowing or her voice from cracking. She wanted Kyo to hear this. What she truly meant from the bottom of her heart. She doesn't want to let someone so precious go. "..I want to continue to live life with you!" Tohru cried, clutching tightly onto Kyo's grotesque arm.
The rain had stopped. It was silent and still. But in that moment, everything felt okay.
"It would've been.." Kyo said softly "It would've been fine if she didn't love all of me... or if she was scared of me." Tohru looked up, surprised. Kyo had turned back into a human. She was holding onto his delicate warm arm. Tohru's eyes gleamed. Kyo is back. He's telling her his true feelings. "Being scared would've meant she was looking at the ugly part of me. But mom used love to avoid looking at me. She avoided thinking of it." Kyo looked up into the cloudy, rainless sky. His eyes glinted as he finally expressed his innermost emotions and burdens. "I wanted her to think it through with me, to worry with me." Tears began to bulge in his eyes "To say she wanted to live life with me..." his voice began to croak. He looked at Tohru, tenderly. Her big sparkling eyes glittered with tears. He had her full attention. She was listening. She wanted to know how he truly felt. And she saw him for who he was. She looked at the wretched and miserable side of him, yet didn't dare look away. She cared.
"I knew it was stupid, because nobody..." Kyo thought, slowly leaned over to Tohru "Nobody would ever say that to me." He slowly pulled Tohru into his arms, gently placing his hand on her head. "I was sure of it, but.." Kyo tenderly caressed his face onto her small head and buried his fingers in her hair "Tohru.." Tears began to shed uncontrollably from Tohru's shimmering eyes.
"Tohru!"
The sky began to clear up. The clouds slowly faded and made way for several glowing sun rays to shine onto the dingy forest. The pleasant sun began to reveal itself again through the trees on the horizon. Although it was still damp and the clouds were still grayish from the rain, the sun rays provided enough light, and softly illuminated the blue sparkling water.
"This is how.." Kyo, transformed into a regular cat, lay gently onto Tohru's knees "This is how you melt away the ugly feelings and dark thoughts inside me, bit by bit. How is it that someone like you would be by my side? That you would cry for me?"
He rested in tranquility. He let go of any insecurity he had at that moment. He truly felt safe and relaxed. Tohru smiled fondly at the fragile cat on her lap. She's glad that Kyo is able to feel secure. Secure enough to reveal his burdens to her.
"Why do I wish for it?" Kyo thought "I know I shouldn't, I know I don't have any right to..."
Back at Shigure's house, Kazuma stood still, continuing to hold the rosary gently in his hand. He looked at the warm sun, just peeking through the tall trees. The atmosphere was much more pleasing and easing.
"I know it's a mistake to be by your side..."
Kazuma looked behind upon hearing light footsteps behind him. Tohru held cat Kyo warmly in her arms, holding him close to her face. Kazuma smiled gently and in relief. His anxiety and grim feelings began slipping away. Tohru did it. Kyo did it. An old rusty door has finally been closed. A new one has been opened, slightly. The future has potential, like the sun slowly peeking behind the trees. The first step has been taken.
"So why can't I help wanting to treasure you this time, to never leave you? I can't help wishing."
