Daisy~

Her thoughts were full of the new footman that day. She kept thinking about him, the way he smiled and the way he took big strides to keep up with Thomas. Her thoughts were nothing but him. "Daisy, we're eating," said Mrs Patmore, walking through to the servants' hall. Daisy followed quickly and looked around before seeing that the only place was between Andy and Thomas. She sat down nervously, she didn't want to make a fool of herself, not in front of Andy anyway. But she needn't have worried, Thomas made sure she didn't get a word in edgeways. He chatted to Andy about anything and everything and she noticed Thomas' eyes were full of a warmth she'd never seen before. And she understood. Why Thomas had always been 'different', why he'd never truly loved her, why Mrs Patmore said he wasn't 'a lady's man'. Everything became clear. Now she wondered if Andy was like that. If he was like Thomas. He couldn't be though. Not a lad like him. Surely. But she'd known Thomas for so long and never found out, who knows what this almost stranger would be like.
