Daisy~

The next few days, she barely talked to anyone. Mrs Patmore suggested another trip to the cinema with Andy to cheer her up, however the suggestion did not do anything of the sort. She tried to cut herself off from everyone, studying even more than usual. None of the others seemed to notice apart from Mrs Patmore and Anna. "Why are you studying so much? Have some fun," said Anna, with a smile. "That's nice of you to say, but I want a scholarship at a school in Ripon so I've got to study hard," Daisy said. And so she did. She went for the exam on her afternoon off and waited impatiently for the weeks afterwards. One day, a letter arrived for her. Was this what she'd been waiting for? She opened it, her hands trembling and read the contents. "I did it! I did it! I'm going to school!" she cried excitedly. "Oh golly, well done Daisy!" Mrs Hughes said. The others congratulated her on her success, even Andy. She had a week to prepare everything before she was off to her marvellous school. She discussed it with Mrs Patmore. "It's all I ever wanted, going to school. I can't believe I'm actually going! It's only for a year though, and I'll be back to visit," she reassured. "I'll miss you Daisy. You're a good girl at heart," said Mrs Patmore, looking quite dewy eyed. "Thank you Mrs Patmore. You've always been very kind to me." She smiled.
