"Hand it over," Ashley waved his phone over with her fingers.
"I don't think so."
"We have one rule in our family, no phones while we dine." He stared at her as if she had lost her mind, her hand falling away. "At least put it on vibrate. You're worse than father and he's never off the damn thing. You'll give me indigestion," she injected as a last-ditch attempt.
Instead, he pocketed the phone. "Why not just admit you want my full undivided attention?"
"Now there is an idea if possible. Not." She added as his phone buzzed again he answered. Giving up, Ashley glanced over the menu that was placed in front of her when they had first arrived. So much for a peaceful lunch. Tucking hair behind her ear.
That was another thing. When had she started wearing her hair down? Usually up in a ponytail, braided, or a bun and straightened, which was now natural and free. Ever since a certain prince had entered her life.
"Surely it's not that hard."
Her eyes peered over the menu at the man opposite. No one had the right to be so damn hot. "Sorry?" she blinked, needing to stay focused.
"There are deep creases across your forehead." Her brows went back to normal, not realising she had been frowning. "There, much better." He pressed the side of the phone and placed it into his pants pockets, not his jacket as before. "There, phone free, we can't break your number one rule."
Just as her phone rang ominously. Ashley tried to keep a straight face, lowering the menu using all her strength not to answer, yet retrieved the phone when it stopped, glancing at the name. Her father. Not good, placing it on vibrate and replaced in her handbag.
"Sorry forgot to shut it down. Now we can relax," she smiled while her father freaked out. She was always on call and never ignored his calls but she wanted Tarazi's full undivided attention. "Let's enjoy this and forget about work for a while unless you want to discuss world problems and how to fix them."
Holding up a hand, he shook his head. "No, I do enough of that daily." Of course, he did. "You are correct, we should just enjoy these moments of peace."
"If one could call a noisy restaurant with people and chatter peaceful," she smiled, not as she noticed. To be honest, she noticed nothing around her apart from the man in front of her. When she was with him, everything else faded away into the background, even when they worked together.
Her complete focus was on him and his needs, ignoring the build-up workload she worked on at home, after a long day with her prince.
"I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it."
"Oops," she laughed, easing back as the waiter approached to take their orders.
"Give us five minutes please, unless," Tarazi stared straight at her, not even glancing at the one approached. He had that way of looking straight at you.
"Yes please," reaching for her menu again before she hadn't seen what was right in front of her, just blurred lines. She wasn't used to eating out for lunch unless business meeting with her father, mainly comprised food on the go, like sandwiches, not wanting anything too heavy, ordering the warm chicken salad and pot of Earl Grey tea while Tarazi went with mushroom risotto, salad with sparkling Perrier water.
"Are you sure that is enough? You don't have to forgo wine." Tarazi stated as he handed over the menu. "You do not have to stand on ceremony because of me."
"No, I am fine," she passed over her menu. "I seldom have a lot for lunch and never drink while working. To be honest, I rarely have any only when needed."
