Willem grabbed a bow and shoved it into her hands, her eyes doubled in size as she stared at him.
"I didn't agree to it." She tried her best and only, string of words she could mutter.
"Don't be a chicken Cal." Kaiden laughed from the end of the line where he and his friends stuck their hands under their armpits and proceeded to make chicken noises at her.
"Do they realise this is more embarrassing for them than it is to you?" Willem asked softly over to Callisto who was just staring at the supposed teenage boys who laughed like they told the joke of the century.
"I think their peanut sized brains would fry if they even considered that a woman could do something." Zoya piped up from beside Callisto, who jumped ever so slightly from not realising she was there, and Willen grinned at her.
"You oh young one are absolutely correct." Willem nodded his head slowly before he grabbed the bow back from Callisto and walked towards the group of buffoons.
"Living proof that humans can use less than 10% of their brains." Callisto muttered and clearly muttered it loud enough that the people around her smothered their laughter with their hands.
"Nice one." Zoya muttered and Callisto turned with sarcastically wide eyes to her.
"So I dont have the plague?" Callisto asked.
"Callie..." Zoya murmured softly.
"I don't even know what I did. And she's avoiding me like I'm carrying the bubonic plague. So my question is, do you or do you not know why she is avoiding me?" Callisto asked as she stared down Zoya who winced and quickly avoided eye contact.
"No, I don't. She just said you really freaked her out this morning."
"Ok, thanks." Callisto murmured to Zoya who sighed in relief.
"Hey! Wait! I didn't agree to doing this!!" Kaiden yelled as Willem nudged him towards the line marked for archers.
"Don't be a chicken Kaidy." Callisto purred as she batted her eyelashes sarcastically.
And his genius reply consisted of snapping his jaw at her like a dog.
"Hand me the bow." Kaiden demanded and both Willem and Callisto grinned.
"Why are you grinning like a Cheshire cat?" Zoya raised an eyebrow.
"Because despite the ego, Kaiden has one of the worst hand eye coordination i've seen ever." Callisto shrugged.
"You set him up." Zoya was floored.
This was the girl who was smart, kept to herself and her one friend, she never did anything unless it was absolutely necessary. The girl who drew dragons and tattoos in her books and on the desks, was not the same person standing next to her.
This person was snarky, confident, and the air around her oozed of power. It seemed that everyone was also noticing it when Zoya took note of all their eyes slightly flickering to Callisto every few seconds. And if she noticed, she never said anything.
Zoya turned her head to Xenia who nodded her head in question. 'Does she know why I'm upset? Does she know what she did?'
Zoya shook her head before she shrugged. She didn't have the reason or answer Xenia wanted.
Callisto watched with amusement as Kaiden's arm shook while he tried to draw the bow to shoot and aim for the target. The string barely grazed his chin as he drew the string before letting go, the arrow shooting into the ground a couple feet in front of him.
Laughter burst through the people around Callisto and she realised that it probably wasn't the best idea to do that. Kaiden's face was red and he looked embarrassed. While she didn't fully regret doing it she felt a tinge of sympathy for him.
