Gritting her teeth Kanao picked up her sword and gripped its hilt tightly with both hands. It was the first time Kanao showed signs of anger in so long, but Akaza telling her to just sit back and watch Tanjiro getting beaten up only sparked a fire.

She unclipped the pin on her cape and took it off to cover Tomioka's chest, blood slowly seeping through the white linen fabric. "Please... Whatever happens, stay alive..." She muttered quietly, knowing Giyuu most likely wouldn't hear it.

Slowly getting up she pointed her blade to the demon, the tip slightly pressed on his neck. "You... You killed Rengoku-san... I will never forgive you!" All her hesitations and indecisiveness melted away, she knew exactly what she wanted and needed to do.

With her blade still slightly piercing Akaza's skin, she took a few steps to stand right beside Tanjiro. "We need a plan. We are not Hashiras and all we can do is buy time, at least until backup is here. I sent a crow." She spoke before her glance fixed on Tomioka.

He was as still as calm water, the only ray of hope was the weak pulse that Kanao still noticed on his neck. Tomioka was unconscious and they both knew the chances of his survival were slim. Especially Tanjiro, he had witnessed Rengoku's fall, and Tomioka's situation wasn't all that different.

A small tear dropped from the corner of Giyuu's eye, signaling he still had a small spark of life in him. "We'll bring him home in one piece, Tanjiro... That is my promise." Kanao turned to Tanjiro, her once calm persona completely changed into a much bolder one.

Taking Nezuko's box off his shoulders he put the box under the willow tree not too far from where Tomioka was, that way he would have more freedom to move around.

The box immediately caught Akaza's attention, as he never knew of its existence from their previous encounter. Akaza could easily tell what or rather who was inside from the smell. Demons had such an amazing sense of smell after all. "Another demon? Kamado Tanjiro, you've been carrying one of our kind on your back this whole time?"

"She is not one of you. We acknowledge her as a member of the corps. Isn't that right, Tanjiro?" A small smile grew on Kanao's face. Seeing Tanjiro tense like that only worried her even more, since the situation they were in was already the least optimal it could be.

Tanjiro nodded in agreement before his glance shifted to the sky. "One hour. We have to hold out for an hour. We can't take down Akaza, that's a fact. Tomioka-san..." He sighed but the sound of Akaza cracking his neck knocked him back to his battle stance.

"You're not taking down any more of us. Not Tomioka-san, not Kanao, not me!" Tanjiro dashed forward blade first, fast clinks were heard as Akaza swiftly deflected all of his attacks.

"Flower Breathing Fifth Form: Peonies of Futility!" Kanao gracefully performed a flurry of consecutive attacks from behind, thinking she would catch him by surprise, only to get hit on the stomach with his elbow.

"Stop denying your calling. You belong with us. What a waste of talent and strength. Join me and we can spar day and night in immortality!" Akaza spoke with his evil smirk still intact.

"Kanao!" Tanjiro exclaimed as the young girl got thrown to the other side of the area, her head knocked on a tree so hard that blood flowed down her forehead, staining her hair and shirt. Her hairpin was crushed in tiny pieces, so was her consciousness.

But it was no time for Tanjiro to come to her aid, he had to focus on the enemy, or else they would all be his dinner before daylight comes.
