Trying to open her eyes, Kanao's vision was all blurry. All she could see were colors moving around. She could hear all the clinking, the screams, but she had no idea what was happening before her. Crawling to reach her blade, Akaza kicked the blade further from her.
"Tan..ji..ro..." she whispered quietly as she could barely see the drops of her own blood on the ground. The immense pain in her stomach was a clear sign of internal bleeding, it was quite amazing she still had the will to get back into the fight which they have clearly lost.
"I.. lost." She thought to herself. "If this is the power of an upper moon then, I will never be strong enough to protect everyone... Shinobu-san, Aoi, the triplets... Tanjiro... I-"
"Stand up, Kanao Tsuyuri." A stern female voice spoke to her, though it did have a hint of warmth to the tone. The kind that felt like a warm fireplace in the middle of a cold blizzard.
"The insect pillar's Tsuguko, Kanao Tsuyuri I demand you stand up this instant." The voice continued before Kanao finally realized who it was.
"K-Kanae-san..." she whispered quietly, looking around to find the source of the beautiful voice she had missed too much. She was unconscious but she felt like her vision cleared up as the picture slowly became as clear as crystal.
Kanae knelt down before her, softly putting both hands on her shoulders and pressing her forehead against hers. "Show me your strength, little sister. Finish what you've started." She spoke with a smile on her face as a tear dropped from the corner of her eye.
Kanao's eyes opened wide as she slowly got up, one foot at a time. Wiping the blood off her forehead with her uniform sleeve, she picked up her blade. "Kanae-san... Lend me your strength."
Kanao getting back up only raised concern on Tajiro's end. "Kanao, please. Stay with Tomioka-san. Please. I can't lose you too!" He shouted out slicing Akaza's limbs off only for them to grow back in two seconds.
"This fight is a cycle that never ends, Kamado Tanjiro. Humans do not defeat demons. And that's that." Akaza went for a high kick, hitting Tanjiro on the head but luckily this boy's head is as solid as a rock.
He grunted and tightened his grip on the hilt. "Dance of the fire god: Fire Wheel!" He swiftly leaped behind Akaza, spinning in the air whilst unleashing a circular flaming attack.
Akaza was knocked back, but as the sun started to rise, he could feel the burning sensation on his skin. "No, no. I gotta wrap this up! Crap!" He knew he couldn't finish the fight so he went to hid in the shade of the forest.
"Keep running away Akaza! Run while you can because I, Kamado Tanjiro, will come for you and avenge Rengoku-san! If you are as brave as you say so, come back here and fight me!" He shouted out, tears started streaming down his face as flashes of Rengoku's final moments played back before him.
"I'm not running away from you dumbass I'm running from the sun!" He ran off before Tanjiro threw his blade at him. The blade got stuck on his neck and slowed him down a little, but the demon managed to escape. Falling to his knees, the exhaustion kicked in, but he had no time to rest.
"Must.. avenge.. Rengoku... Tomioka-san!" He shouted out before looking around to see the damage.
Kanao was running on her last bits of consciousness and as for Tomioka... His body had no colour. His face was as pale as paper and there were no clear signs of life left in him. The small spark that was left in Tomioka's soul was gone.
