Chapter 8: Can I have that in writing?

OLIVIA'S P.O.V.:

"I don't know Emily" I said as I looked into distance.

Truth is, I really wasn't in the mood to discuss the Oscars any longer. I get it; George Clooney is her celebrity crush and she would totally bang him if he was our age, we don't need to go on and on about it for over half an hour.

"Come on Liv, the answer is obvious but I want to know your opinion. Team Leo or Team Adam?" She asked impatiently.

"Whoever, you are not going to marry either of them." I said dismissively wanting to end this conversation as soon as possible.

"Ouch." Emily pretends to stab herself in the heart. "Just so you know, if I do get married to one of them, you're not invited to the ceremony." She said looking away from me.

At this, a smile creept onto my face unable to hide the amusement at my best friend's seriousness about the matter.

"Can I have that in writing?" I let a chuckle escape my lips along with my words. "Come on, let's talk about something else, Christian must be bored to death."

Christian seemed surprised that we, better said I, acknowledged his presence.

"Actually, I could name a couple of very attractive ladies that attended the event." He said earning a look from me telling him not to encourage Emily.

The look was just a formality, knowing him; he would rather poke his eye out with a fork than sit and talk to a fan girl about the people she's a fan of.

"But yeah, we should talk about something else." He said confirming my thought.

Emily seemed to be giving the cold shoulder, however I knew that she wasn't really upset, big drama queen that one.

"Nutcracker season is almost here." Emily finally spoke.

She was right. Soon enough, every girl on our year was going to be competing against each other for the part they so profoundly wanted. Obviously we can't make an entire piece with just 12 dancers so some other people from other studios were coming in to audition as well.

Me? I didn't really care that much which part I got, even though I was assigned the same one every single time.

I knew that getting that part meant so much more to Emily than it did to me. That's why I made the suggestion in the first place.

"You should audition for Clara." I deadpanned.

"What for? No one ever gets it except for you." She said. The tone in her voice felt like she somewhat resented me. "Don't get me wrong I know it's not your fault... You just have the natural ability to draw everyone's eyes to you when you dance." She said smiling. Maybe that wasn't resentment but sadness.

"Exactly for that. The production needs a fresh face... I think you would be perfect." I said encouraging her.

Every single word was true, she would perform Clara's part perfectly, she just needed a push, a little faith and she would be just fine.

"I agree." Christian spoke.

"Please, my technique isn't nearly as flawless as hers." She pointed her hand at me. "It's in her blood."

"It really isn't. I'm adopted." I replied to her comment regarding Natasha.

"You know what I mean..." Emily smiled.
