TWO YEARS AGO:
OLIVIA'S P.O.V:
I woke up with my dad calling my name and opening the blinds to let the light in. Right there I made up over one hundred different scenarios in my head of how I could murder my own father.
"Dad..." I whined.
"Come on, time to get up."
I looked over to my night stand where my phone was and checked the time.
"Are you freaking kidding me?! It's 6 a.m. I only have to be up at 7." I pulled the blankets over my head silently cursing my life. "I'm going back to sleep".
He pulled the blankets off my body and I opened my eyes, when my temporary state of blindness wore off I saw Zach walking in to my room scratching the back of his head and yawning, he had his hair and chest all wet.
"Do as he says; you don't want to end up like me." He said looking in my direction then he turned to dad. "Was the water really necessary?"
"You wouldn't get up..."
I found myself actually amused by the whole situation but that joy only lasted until he turned to me, his arm reaching for a glass of water.
"I'm up! I'm up!" I said getting up. "Step away from the glass old man."
With my arms leaning towards my dad I walked sideways (for both protection and orientation) all the way to my bathroom. When I got to the door I walked in closing the door quickly to hear my dad say 'You're going to pay for that' and laugh.
I love the man but sometimes I swear he's the kid in the family. As I was getting my tooth brush I heard a knock on the door. Praying to God it wasn't my dad with a water gun, which wouldn't surprise me at all, I felt relieved when I heard Zach's voice.
"Liv?"
"Yeah?" I asked spitting the tooth paste.
Zach opened the door and peeked inside, and then he walked in closing the door behind him.
"When I say yeah it doesn't mean come on in, it means stay where you are and state your business."
"I need a towel."
He took one from the cabinet and cleaned his wet chest and stomach with it.
"Do you happen to know why we're up so early in the morning?" I asked as I grabbed the towel he had just used to clean my face.
"Actually yes, mom and dad are meeting up with the social worker that took care of our adoption." he said cleaning a bit of toothpaste off my cheek with his finger.
It took me a while to think of what I would say next and still I hadn't come up with anything so instead I asked:
"Mom's home?" That was a surprise giving the fact that she was supposed to be somewhere in Europe.
"Apparently, she got in last night."
"Ok, so they're meeting up with Melinda. Again; why am I up at 6 a.m.?"
They never discuss the adoption with us nor do they take us when they go see Melinda.
"They want to talk to us before we go to school."
They want to talk to us? Yeah right. My mom doesn't do talking; with her you just stand there and listen. Next you're going to tell me unicorns are real.
