I walk into my bedroom and change into some PJ's, flop onto the bed and cover myself in the blankets. I see a remote on the bedside table, I pick it up and click a button, with a little humming noice a projecter from above my head shines onto the wall at the end of the bed. It was like a tv. I scrolled through the channels when I found the show that Caesar Flickerman hosts and I watch knowing it's what my family would be watching on our little tv at home. He talks about each reaping that occurred that day, he then goes to talk about how eventful the district 12 reaping was.

"Well in district 12 we had a young lady at the age of 14 reaped. She walked up to the stage about a minute after her name was called. She walked up showing no emotion. How tough. She spotted a boy crying. We believe he was her brother. She walked off stage hugged him and reassured she'll be ok and that she'd come home. Just to be pulled away by guards and taken back up stage. That's when she shed the only tear she had. Let's just hope this lovely young lady can keep her promise. Here's the video." Caesar says playing the video of the district 12 reaping with me hugging Katniss, walking on stage, walking off stage, hugging Angus, being dragged on stage and crying.
With that I couldn't help but let all the feelings I was feeling in those moments come bubbling back up. I turned the projector off curled up under the blankets and stared at the necklace Gale gave me, drifting off to sleep.

I wake up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. I had just had a dream where I was dying in the arena. I was shot in the stomach and was bleeding out, I had just closed my eyes to die when I woke up. I got out of bed, my warm feet hitting the cold floor. I walked into the kitchen to get some water. I get the water and go to the end of the train and sit on the big couch that was under a big window looking out to the railway tracks we were just on. I look up and see the stars. Last time I'd seen the stars I was out hunting late with Jack, Katniss and Gale. I never caught anything while I went hunting at night but it was fun just laughing under the stars with my best friends.

"Can't sleep?" I jump. "Oh sorry didn't mean to scary you." It was Noah. A shirtless Noah. Man he's hot.

"Nah it's ok, I spaced out. Uh yeah couldn't sleep."

He comes and sits next to me and I go back to looking at the stars.

"They're pretty, aren't they." I say.

"Yeah I haven't seen the stars in a while.

"Neither. Why were you up anyway?" I ask looking at him now.

"Heard you get up."

"Oh sorry about that."

"No worries." It then went silent but comfortable not awkward.

"Do you remember when all the guys at school used to challenge you to races?" Noah says breaking the silence.

"Yeah I think I do. Why?"

"I don't know. It just came to mind. It was so funny because all the guys didn't want to believe that you were fast."

"You think I'm fast?" I blush a little.

"Yeah! You won every race by a long shot. They would challenge you because they saw that you were faster than Gale and Jack but didn't believe that they would lose."

"Haha, I never really knew why that was happening but it was fun 'cause I got to make fools out of those idiots." I say with a grin and a giggle. "Why didn't you ever race me?" I question.

"I don't know. I guess I just didn't want to see if I'd win or not." He says with a little laugh. "What you did before, you know stabing the table. That was bad ass."

"Ha thanks. She deserved it after passing me off so many times."

"Ha, yeah I guess she did." He gives me a little smile. "Well we best be off to bed."

"Yeah you're probably right. I kinda want to stay and watch the stars a little longer."

"Want company?" He asks.

"Nah it's ok, night."

He gets up to walk away. "See you at breakfast?"

"For sure."

With that he walks down to his bedroom which was right next to mine.

"Good morning!" Effie sang as she opened my bedroom curtains to reveal the rain.

"Ha, cold morning more like."

"Oh get up and have some breakfast."

"Fine."

She left my room and I get out of the comfort of my bed and throw on a hoodie and some tights. I walked out to the table and grabbed some toast.

"Hey, Effie, I have a question."

"Sure, what is it?"

"Why didn't you let Noah and I eat last night?"

"It is respectful to wait for everyone to be seated before eating."

"She has a point." Noah adds.

"Thank you." I say to him bluntly.

"Your parents would have taught you some manners. Did they not?" Effie says ignoring Noah.

"No they didn't they were busy teaching us how to survive. WE AREN'T ALL RICH."

"Do not raise you voice at me young lady!"

"You keep calling me young lady, like you're not sending me into an arena to kill as many people as I can!"

"Fine." She says in defeat.

I grab some eggs, bacon and more toast and walk off to where Noah and I were talking last night. I sit done all annoyed, as soon as I look out the window my annoyance fades away. The sky a dark grey, the rain drops on the window, the flashes of lightning, the sound of thunder. It all feels familiar, like home. I sit there looking out the window eating for five minutes, when Noah walks in and sits down next to me.

"Hey." He says sweetly.

"Hey."

"You realise you'll do great in the games right."

"Ha how do you know that."

"Because y/n I do. Did you not hear me last night?"

"No I did, but just being fast won't do much, will it? I need more than just speed."

"You'll do better than me."

"Dude have you looked in the mirror lately."

"Yeah ok I'm strong physically, but I don't have the guts to kill someone."

"Oh and you think I do."

"Well out of you and I the person I would peg to be able to kill a person it would be you. You've had to go through a whole lot more than I have."

"Fine how about this, once the games begin we stick together, we'll have a pact not to kill each other and to have each other's backs. Yeah?" I offer.

"Yeah alright." He agrees and we shake on it.
