“Well, Bree, you smashed your chip so badly it’s useless.” Davenport explained as he typed a few things on his cyber desk. “But, I was able to replicate my brother’s original chip, and like my face, it’s flawless.” He grinned, gesturing to his face.
“Forget the chip, we need to get this dude a mirror.” Leo said, causing me to chuckle.
Bree looked like she was about to pass out from shock. “Wait, so I’m actually going to be bionic again?” I smiled, the happiness for my best friend basically seeping through. I was glad that everything was going to turn back to normal.
Davenport smiled. “Yep.”
“Yes! Thank you!” Bree wrapped her arms around Davenport.
He glanced down at the screen on the cyber desk. “Ooh, your chips almost ready.” Once it was completed, we made our way over to the chip fabricator that held Bree’s chip.
“Ooh, snacks are done.” Adam announced, thinking that the contraption was a microwave.
“For the last time, this is not a microwave.” Davenport told him, for what seemed like the fifth time. “It’s a chip fabricator.”
“Hey, call it whatever you want. I’m still making my mini pizzas in here.”
Davenport reached down into the chip fabricator and grabbed Bree’s chip. He held it up in front of Bree, a smile on his face. “Okay, Bree. Hop in your capsule and get ready for your new chip.” With a wide grin on her face, she grabbed the chip and scurried off into her capsule, placing it in the gadget that would install the chip into her neck.
“You know, Big D. If this works, maybe you can make a chip for me.” Leo suggested. He really needed to give up on the whole being bionic thing.
Davenport laughed. “Please. Your body can’t handle high fiber cereal.” With a press of a few buttons, the new bionic chip was placed into Bree’s neck. She stepped out, her hand on her probably sore neck.
“So? How does it feel?” Davenport asked, eager for the answer.
“Like a piece of metal just got jammed into my neck and fused to my nervous system.” She replied.
“Whoo! Success!” He cheered. “Alright, give it a try and see how it worked.”
Bree moved to the center of the lab and took a deep breath. “Okay.” In an instant, she was super speeding around the lab, including the ceiling. Obviously this wasn’t a success, due to the fact that Bree collapsed on the floor, along with pieces of the ceiling lights.
“Well, she’s still more useful than Chase.” Adam said.
Davenport rolled his eyes, including me. “Is there a moment where you don’t insult your brother?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at the oldest bionic.
He pretended to think about it. “Mmm, nope.” I glared at him before he walked over to Bree and lifted her up, bringing her over to a chair.
“You know, technically speaking, your bionics are working,” Davenport said.
“You call this working?” Bree asked, although it wasn’t her own voice. Her vocal manipulation was definitely glitching. “I can’t control my vocal manipulation. I can’t control anything.” She now sounded like a chipmunk.
“I’m so close,” Davenport said, wrapping a brace around her neck. “It just needs a few tweaks.”
Chase pulled Adam to the side, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I turned to Leo and lowered my voice to a whisper. “You think he can fix her chip?”
