Just thought I’d let you know that there will be an awkward talk between Bree and Alex during the chapter. It involves a topic we all learn in school. Sex. So if you’re uncomfortable reading that, then just skip ahead. It’s not that bad, but I just wanted to warn the younger readers.

Walking into the lab, I stopped midway when I saw Adam and Chase on the floor. Leo was standing a couple of feet away from them, but he had two orbs hovering over his head.

“Do I want to know what’s going on?” I asked, completely walking in.

“I invented attack orbs that-“

“Just stop right there.” I cut him off. I lent both my hands for Adam and Chase to take, and they did. Once they were on their feet, I turned to Leo. “Do I want to know why you built those?”

He shrugged. “Depends. Do you really care?”

I smirked. “Nope.” I turned to Chase. “We have work in twenty minutes, so we gotta go.”

He nodded and grabbed my hand. “Later, guys.” We quickly ran out of the lab and hurried out of the house. We made it to Tech Town in a matter of minutes, since we were running. Once we clocked in and changed into our work shirts, we got right to work. Bree was already working, since her shift started earlier than ours.

About twenty minutes into our shift, Scott spoke up. “Well, if it isn’t my employee of the week,” He pointed to Chase. “And my weak employee.” He pointed to Bree.

“Good one, Scott.” Chase grinned. “It’s funny ‘cause she’s bad at her job. Ha!” He laughed.

“Yeah, well I’d be better at it, but I have things that get in the way. Like, friends and a life.” Bree smirked.

“Am I invisible?” I questioned, my eyes narrowing at my boss.

He looked at me and shrugged. “It depends on the day.” He stepped back and whistled, gaining the attention of the other employees. “Alright, listen up, guys! It’s time for Tech Town’s annual design your own app contest!”

“Does the fun ever end around here?” Bree asked, sarcasm dripping from her voice.

“Yeah, usually when you show up.” Scott replied, a smirk on his face. He started giggling, which actually freaked me out. Chase was laughing, and he was mimicking Scott’s laugh. It was creepy. “Don’t do my laugh.” Scott told my boyfriend.

“All entries have 24 hours to upload their app to our website.” Scott continued. “Whoever has the most downloads by Friday, wins a $500 gift card.” Scott propped his leg up on the counter, then reached into his sock and pulled out said gift card. “And please, apply yourselves this year. I am so sick of winning.” With that said, he walked towards the other side of the store.

“Don’t worry, Scott.” Chase said, catching up to him. Bree and I followed. “I’m definitely going to app-ply myself.”

“No more tech puns. I had a lady complain to corporate.” Scott said.

Bree chuckled. “That was me.”

“Chase, no offense, but you’re clearly out of your league.” Scott told him. “You’re never going to outshine the master.”

Chase snorted. “The master? You clearly have no idea who you’re dealing with.”

Scott looked hurt. “How could you turn on me like this? I thought I was your idol?”

“Yeah, well, now you’re my competition.”

“Sounds like you’re challenging me.” Scott stepped forward. “And no one challenges me! Except my mom; she’s my ride.”
