July 26, 2021...
The night was falling on the city. The stars started to appear in the black sky. The moon, shinning on all the town, was full and bright. The lights of the apartments and houses were slowly closing. The time was ticking around midnight already. There were not many cars left in the road at this time. Everything was getting calm.
From Suziky's window, a shadow went down and landed on the ground, next to the house. Then, another shadow got down, slower this time, also landing on the ground on both feet without problems. Side to side, the two shadows ran to the car hidden further behind the house between some trees and got in.
Totally covered of black, Suziky took the hood and the mask off from her face while Alan was doing the same.- I told you to get out from your room, started Suziky, looking out the window to see if anyone was there.
- Well you called me at the last minute in your room and they called us, said Alan, starting the car. We can't make them wait so I did what I could.
- Yea well you could have walked to your room while listening to the mission, continued Suziky while taking her gloves off.
- And how would you know we had a mission, miss genius? asked the young man, driving away from the house.
Suziky answered with a sigh and looked at her cellphone. Then she looked at Alan once again.
- We need to go to the Oakville Ave, near the Seventh Street.
- We should be there in 10 minutes.
- So?
- Well, we should find something to talk about.
- We don't need to talk, said Suziky, looking outside of the window.
A big silent took place in the car while they were driving there. Since the say Suziky met the boss, she wasn't talking that much to Alan. The night she became one of them was a bad nightmare. A bad memory. It also brought distance between the two young adults.
- Why do you ignore me? asked Alan.
- Oh no, don't restart please.
- I want to know, Suzy. You always shut me out these days, what did I do wrong?
- Nothing, said Suziky, now looking at him.
- Is it about the scar? Cause if it is, I shall remember you that...
- I was the one to accept, I know. And I don't hate you for that, don't worry, I'm just in my mind.
- Thinking of...?
- Many things actually.
- Like?
- Can we change subject? she said, ignoring his question and looking at him.
- No, speak. I'm serious, said Alan as an answer.
- Ok, fine... I'm thinking of someone.
- Who?
- Hana, said Suzy, looking at her phone again. My other friend.
- The girl you invited last week, right? asked Alan, taking a quick look to Suziky to then look back at the road.
- Yes, her.
- Why are you thinking of her? Is it love?
- Come on, Alan, I just met her. Plus, I'm not gay compared to you.
- What's wrong with loving our same gender? said Alan, smirking.
- It's not bad! Just... Don't get me involved in this, for God of sake. I'm straight anyways.
- Ok, ok, said Alan to finish the weird conversation.
The ringing of Suziky's cellphone got there attention. On the screen, the picture of a smiling boy appeared. Under it, some information and two other pictures has been sent from their boss.
- The next victim? asked Alan who checked on her phone screen for a moment.
- Yes, some guy called Arlen Farrington. 18 years old.
- Around your age? Waouh, it's a young one.
- It says he might be accompanied of 2 other people, Isaiah Willow and Taylor Hackson.
- And they are...?
- One is the boyfriend and the other one the partner.
- A trio? Nice!
- It's not 3 people to kill. We only have to kidnap Arlen and send him to the boss.
- I wasn't about to say I'd kill them, relax. I'm not a murderer.
- Oh really?
- Yup!
- What about the one you almost stabbed?
- He started it! And I wasn't planning on stabbing him in the chest so he would still be alive.
- Right. Where would you stab someone when your in danger?
- Anywhere to defend myself, answered Alan.
- And the chest is in the choices, Suziky said, cutting Alan.
- Whatever...
- I still think that, since you became the boss's employer before me, you'll become a murderer.
- This is a ridiculous reason. Who said I wanted to?
- Well...
- Suziky, if I'm in this, it's only cause I have to so you and mom stay alive and away from danger. Keep that in mind.
- You don't have to anymore since they won't kill me. Though, they might kill your mom.
- Exactly.
- Maybe she should join.
- No!
-Joking, damn, I would never let her join anyway, said Suziky with a smile.
