We started heading toward the bedroom when...
Bang, Bang, Bang!
There were several bangs at the door downstairs. I looked at 12 with obvious signs of confusion and fear, she also seemed pretty confused.
"Stay back, I got this."
12 reached for her gun and began going downstairs. I rushed after her, gently grabbing her hand to stop her for a moment.
"Be careful... I don't need anything bad happening. Do you want me to go with you?"
"No, it's okay. I'll be fine, dear. Just stay here,"
She kisses my forehead and heads down. I begin to pace, worrying that something's gonna happen. I can hear the gate opening and some chatting. Maybe it's just some more survivors? We don't have any more room in here. What if they're trying to take our stuff?
I shake my thoughts and quietly go downstairs to see... James?
'How'd he get out there? Well, as long as it's just James, everything is just-' I began to think as I turned away, but my thoughts were interrupted by 12.
"JAMES!!"
I rushed over and saw a monster-like creature swoop him away. I've never seen anything like it, but I only caught a glimpse of it. I watch as 12 rushed out the door, chasing after the thing, only for it to fly away into the dark with James, screaming for help. It was a terrible sight to see, and a terrible thing to hear. I know for a fact that it'll haunt me.
I chase after 12, stopping her from running any further. I don't want her to go too far, or to get swooped up as well.
"12, come on, we have to go back inside-"
"No! What about James?! I have to go after him, I have to get my plane. I'll pack up some resources, and I'll bring a map, I'll-"
I cut her off before she can say any more, putting my hand on her shoulder, quickly walking her back inside. "Hey, it'll be okay. James is tough. I'm sure he'll-"
12 cuts me off, moving away from my hand. "He'll die out there, 13! He has no weapon, no food... Hell, the thing probably ate him by now!"
She does have a point, but I want to look at the positives. I don't want to know what's probably already happened to him.
We're back inside the flower shop now, so I start locking up. I hear footsteps coming from the stairs; it's Phelix.
"Hey, what's happening down here? Is everything alright?" He asked with a fearful expression on his face.
12 replied, "No, everything's not okay. Why was James out there? What the fuck was he thinking? Do you know what happened??"
As I finished locking up, I moved 12 to the side, signaling her to try to keep calm. Phelix looked worried as much as he did confused.
"James was... Taken," I stated softly. Obviously, this freaked the older brother out.
"What do you mean taken? By who? Or what?"
"We.. don't know.. yet. That's what we're trying to figure out. All we know is that he was swooped away by a large creature with gigantic wings,"
Phelix began to pace frantically, putting his hand on his head.
"Well, what should we do? We have to go look for him!"
12 came back into the conversation, "That's what I say! We get in my plane and search for wherever that son of a bitch may have taken him,"
