"Well, would ya look at that! We're already done." 13 smiled as she placed the final crate on the floor. I watched as she locked back up, and I approached her.
"Team work makes the dream work. It has since Kindergarten." I spoke, wrapping my arm around her shoulders. She chuckled softly, looking away from her, her face flushing a little. I giggled, tilting her chin up. "You're so pretty..." I whispered, booping her nose once more.
I've never seen anyone get redder, except for that one time at a school dance when 13 spilled the entire bowl of punch on the floor and then slipped in it. She was kinda embarrassed but we played it off like it was't a big deal.
She lead me over to a couch where we sat down. "So, how's the back up energy source?" I question.
"Well, by backup power, I assume you mean the solar power?" She questioned.
I nodded my head. "Environmental protection is sorta the main focus in a shop like this, right..?"
13 nodded, a soft smile resting on her lips. She had a tooth gap that made her really adorable, and I couldn't help but smile when she did.
I glance off to the side, hiding my smile behind my hand. I wasn't proud of my smile. My teeth aren't crooked or anything, but well, my face scrunches up into an ugly mess. I felt 13 place a hand on my wrist and pull my hand down. She smiled softly at me.
"Don't hide what makes you beautiful, dear..." She whispered. My face was light pink at this point, and I sighed.
"I won't..." I spoke softly, "So, what's the game-plan? When are we going to start to find survivors and set up camps for them to stay in?"
"... It won't take long, I know the people around here might be okay for awhile, but they may not last long with the way this keeps going." 13 whispered, laying her head on my shoulder.
"How many do you think are infected?"
"At majority of the population." She answered.
"The virus is spreading quite quickly... I don't know how unless the zombies are mutating and getting faster." I whispered, fiddling with my hands.
"You know what that means?"
"Operation save the world is a go." I laugh softly. "Well, if this operation is underway, we need to get things organized." I wondered in my thoughts for a moment as 13 moved across the room.
"You okay?" She questioned, looking towards me.
"Do you remember our plans to have a secret storage unit within our bunker?"
"Mm-hm!" She hummed. I had a smile on my face and then I looked around, tracing my hand over the wall.
"I don't know if you ever got one installed but, I can build one if you want me to. I have our old notebooks in the plane."
"You kept a hold of them?"
"You know me, I don't just throw things away. I have our notebooks, sketch books, I have them all!" I giggled, looking towards the other.
"Well, seeming how you have them.. How about you go grab them real quick? I'd like to go over what we had in mind!"
"I've reviewed them each several time and I say it's still an amazing plan in all honesty." I spoke, approaching the exit. I open it back up, making my way out to the plane. I opened the door, heaving myself up into the plane. I grabbed a couple of my duffel bags, opening each of them to make sure they were the ones I needed.
Well, I should probably move everything in for right now. I grab my things, those that are important, and I left a majority of the empty packs in the plane. I made my way out, nearly tripping over myself. I laugh off the slight rush of adrenaline, going back inside, setting my stuff down so I could close the door back.
"I'm back, 13.... 13?" I turned, not being able to locate her. "13??"
She walked down from the stairs, and I chuckled softly. "Sorry, went up there for a moment."
"No problem. This is kinda your place after all." I giggle, kneeling down and opening the bag that had our old stuff in it. I pulled out a couple old, tattered sketchbooks, and even more worn down notebooks. I chuckled softly, looking up at 13.
"You really did keep them." She spoke, seemingly in awe. I giggled, smiling like an idiot. I handed her one of the oldest sketchbooks. It was hers.
I rummaged through the rest of the stuff while she flipped through the pages. I heard her burst into a fit of laughter and I raised a brow. "What?"
"D-Do you remember this?" She turned the sketch to my view and I raised a brow before bursting into laughter. It was a drawing of a cartoon character we were obsessed with using a random toy fist to punch a zombie. That was my drawing.
"I-I can't believe I forgot about that-"
"You stole my sketchbook just so you could draw that-"
"You were sad that day and I wanted to cheer you up. So who better then this random cartoon character punching a zombie to cheer you up-?"
"Well, I had you, the drawing was a bonus." 13 snickered, trying to catch her breath back that she lost from laughing.
I stared at her adoringly.
"What?" She giggled.
"Sorry, just staring at my world..." I whispered, going back to looking through my own sketchbook. I went over the top with mine. As in, as I drew, I'd write down potential weaknesses and write down the best weapons to use.
"Did you literally write on the top of the page: 'note to self, don't fucking die'?"
I nod, snickering. "I was... not so subtle with myself-"
"Clearly." 13 laughed, kneeling down by me. "I'm still really so shocked that you managed to keep a hold of these."
"I was called a hoarder for keeping these with me but I knew damn well they'd be important."
"And you were right!"
"My predictions are usually keen." I smile down at 13. She's so short and I love her so much.
After moments of looking through the sketches, I stood and began to pin a few pages to a board. "As of right now, our biggest threat are quicker zombies, screamers, and crawlers." I explained. "We might have to put up some extra defense around this place to keep it safe."
"What are you suggesting?"
"Electric fences, perhaps." I suggested.
"... We'd have to get that from a repair shop somewhere-"
"That'll be no problem for us. It's the apocalypse. It's every man for themselves. Let's just go break into the shop, take what we need, and survive."
"Sounds like a plan!"
