Chapter 2

"What is is this?"

My mind took me back to the day we met

I was walking to class one day when I tripped over my shoelaces and fell on my face. I quickly got up,my face red with embarrassment. Everyone just stared at me as I picked up my things and tied my shoe. I went to grab a book that I dropped that had slid a few feet away when a girl with shoulder length dirty blond hair and beautiful green eyes picked up and handed it to me and smiled. "T-thanks" I stuttered as I grabbed the book and brushed my hair behind my ears. She was one of the cutest girls in this school and she noticed ME, the shy girl who always sits in the back of the classroom because she's scared she'll get called on. The girl with no friends. "I'm Amelia" she said. Oh God that name just makes her five times better. "I'm Lily" I said quietly. "Where are you headed?" She asked "just lunch" I muttered. "Oh me too, we can sit together" this had never happened to me. I always sat by myself at lunch or ate outside. "What? You wanna sit with me?" I surprised I said it in a normal tone and not my usual mumbling. "Yeah, oh do you not want to?" She said " No no I was just surprised,I guess we can sit together " I did my best to smile and she smiled back. That smile,it was so dang adorable I almost giggled.

We headed off to lunch just talking and getting to know each other. She had no siblings and her favorite color was purple, she had a cat named Lola and a hamster. She had a great sense of humor, she was so funny. She giggled as I told a joke and I blushed and looked the other way so she wouldn't notice.

We walked into the loud cafeteria with students everywhere talking and laughing and I took a deep breath to focus myself. It's ok, you're with amelia. I told myself. "Come on let's go get our food" Amelia said as she started to walk off. I quickly followed her because I didn't wanna be left alone. We got our food and we sat down at a table at the edge of the cafeteria, away from most of the people. "So what's your favorite color? " she asked curiously as if she was genuinely interested. "Hmm I'd say blue" I said after a moment. "Ooo I love blue like the ocean and the sky. Nature is beautiful " she sighed as she said the last words "I agree" I said as I took a bite of my pizza. " I think you and I will be good friends" she said as she smiled. A friend, I had never had a real friend before that.

"Lily,who is this for?" I felt a small surge of relief as I realized I must have not put a name on it. But it didn't last long. "Answer me" Amelia said sounding slightly irritated. I open my mouth to say something but all the game out was "I-I- dont-" Amelia stared at me. "You don't what?" I had no idea what to do I was so scared.

"Who is this for?"

I realized what I had to do. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
