I didn't know what to bring with me. I barely knew the grooms anymore. I haven't spoken to them in 7 years. I did the most I could with my research. I bought something for each classmate I used to have. I promised myself that if someone doesn't show up, I'd still send them the gifts after. I tried my best to not look like a stereotypical 30-year-old woman, but I started accepting the fact that I wasn't nineteen anymore.
I hoped not to get photographed by anyone at the airport, so I tried disguising myself as a normal woman as much as I could. I wore something comfortable for the long plane ride. I wore a simple white t-shirt tucked into light blue wide-legged jeans and black converse. I let my black hair down and decided to wear a mask to cover my face.
The school had purchased everyone's plane ticket, but I didn't see anyone familiar at the airport. I sat alone in my seat, so I had nobody to bother me. When I stepped out of London Stansted airport, I finally caught a few familiar faces. I saw Chaeyoung and her sister Alice. I smiled, but I didn't go over to them. My Uber was waiting for me.
The hotel had changed so much. It's gotten bigger and more luxurious. I supposed it was also so much more expensive. The lobby had changed completely. There was a gigantic chandelier in the middle made out of diamonds. I felt like I was in a palace.
I got my room keys. My room was on the top floor. They told me it had a beautiful view of Lambeth Palace and the river Thames. I stepped into the elevator, but to my surprise, I wasn't alone. He was there. Jimin was there.Jimin was there with Jungkook and their children. Jimin barely changed. He looked just as young as ever. As for Jungkook, neither did he. He got an eyebrow piercing, a tattoo sleeve and got more muscular. But they were still the same. I refused to look at them. I didn't want to be recognized. It was so weird, how after all those years we had to end up in the same elevator at the same time. They stepped out on the second floor. I raised my head and I met eyes with Jungkook who bowed his head to me with a small smile. I did the same and waited for the elevator door to close.
My hotel room was spacious and incredibly beautiful. I had a gigantic king size bed all to myself and a balcony, facing Lambeth Palace as I was told. All I wanted to do was order wine and stare at the ships going by on the Thames in my Chanel bathrobe.
I was somewhat nervous about the wedding day. I went to a hairdresser and a makeup artist to get myself prepared. I had also bought a brand new dress just for the occasion. I wore a black thin-strapped midi dress with a sweetheart neckline and a slit in the middle. I paired this with beige heels and a dark brown single-breasted trench coat. Everyone had cars waiting for them. The wedding hadn't even started yet, but they made all the guests feel comfortable. Once we were all at the venue, I felt a sense of shock. It had been rented out just for the couple. It was going to be set in the White Tower. It was a gorgeous palace.
The weirdest part for me was the honorifics. All these students who were once friends in college, now called each other 'sir' and 'madam'. Of course, not those who stayed friends. But those were rare. Before the ceremony had started, we had a small chance to look around the fortress. It was full of history. Both good and bad. I wasn't exactly dressed for long walks, so the farthest I had gotten from the White Tower was Tower Green. I brought flowers, in respect of those who had lost their lives here.
I heard footsteps from two people behind me. I heard Chaeyoung's voice. She was laughing about something with Hoseok and Jimin. I wanted to go over to them so badly, but my feet felt stuck to the floor and it was like I couldn't move an inch of my body.
" Jennie!" Chaeyoung waved at me. By then Hoseok had left, and it was only her and Jimin." It's been so long."
The girls and I stopped talking a few months after disbandment. It was horrible, but we needed a break. I finally moved closer to the two and forced a smile on my face. " Yeah!" I said and met eye contact with Jimin.
