Before my classes, I went to the company to speak to my boss. I was nervous and scared. Just as I stepped inside, everybody gave me bad looks. I couldn't understand why at first, but it didn't take long for me to realize. Rumors were spreading way too fast. I left out a sigh and I walked inside. The boss was sitting at his desk, doing some paperwork.
" Hello, sir. " I bowed.
He looked up for a moment and leaned back in his chair. " Yes, dear? "
I gulped nervously. " I was thinking about giving up on my solo, because I didn't achieve it how I should've."
" No, no, no." He shook his head. " Sit down. "
I did as he said. I pulled out the chair in front of his desk and I sat down.
" You are not going to give up on your solo." He replied. " I don't care what the girls say. Your father is paying me, and if I don't do as he wants, he'll stop funding us."
" My dad...?" I asked.
" Ah, of course you didn't know. " He laughed." You can give up on your solo, but don't expect any support from the company. You are my favorite, because you are our money source. We make money from the other girls, too but your father pays the most. Your career depends on everything. This industry is a competition, meaning you have to do anything to win. Solo, good career, denying rumors, keeping your favoritism and your father will pay more, which is good both for you and the company. Think about it."
" I don't think this is fair." I shook my head." People hate me, if I get a solo, they will hate me even more. "
" This industry is not a fair game. " He shook his head." It's all about the money."
" What about the other girls? " I asked.
" This is not about the other girls. " He said. " And you know what? This scandal is good. It gives you more fame. In the end, you're going to win everything. Remember, if you choose not to keep it, you can say goodbye to your career. "
" I..." I started.
" I'll take this as a yes." He smirked. "You can thank me later. Now go."
I stood up from the chair, bowed my head and left the room. Thankfully I managed to get on the bus without missing it. The other girls were standing in front of the school. Just as I arrived, I ran over to Rosie and hugged her. I started crying to the point that I almost fainted.
" It's okay." She told me and sat me down on a bench. " What happened?"
" I..." I shook my head. " I just found out that all this time my dad was paying the company for me to get favoritism."
" What?" She gasped.
" I'm disgusted." I said. " The boss said that he needs me for money, and my scandal gets me more known. I'm sorry, I tried. He said if I give up on my solo, then I can say goodbye to my career."
" I have to tell you something." She sighed. " I overheard a conversation between your dad and the boss when we were signed. They didn't want to take you with us, so your dad offered them money."
" W-what?" I asked. " So, if my dad wouldn't have payed, I wouldn't have been part of the group?"
" I think that's not exactly the case." She shook her head. " They were debating over whether they should bring you or not, because one person disagreed. I thought you knew."
" No." I shook my head.
" Are you going through a hard time nowadays?" She asked. " Seems like you can't focus."
" Something's wrong." I nodded. " I don't know how to control my feelings, my mind is everywhere."
" Maybe Jimin could help you?" She shrugged.
" I don't want to bother him." I shook my head." He has his own problems, and I'm here being a total mess. He doesn't need this. "
" All I can say is to try and get through this alone." She said." You've done a lot of shit, which I can't help you with."
" I know, but I can't do this alone." I sighed.
" You have to. " She told me." I'm sorry. " She walked away to the other girls,
" I guess I'm alone again..." I whispered to myself. I quickly wiped away my tears, and took a deep breath. As I walked inside the school, I got some looks from other people. I quickly went over to my locker and packed away some of my things. There was a new girl wearing a blue plaid dress and a black leather jacket. " Hi, you're new here?" I asked.
" You're Jennie, right?" She raised her brows.
" Yeah?" I shrugged.
" I'm Hana." She said. " I'm a friend of Jimin's."
" Oh." I nodded. " How do you know him?" I asked.
" Old classmate." She said. " He's a close friend. I'm sorry that he had to date you."
I blinked awkwardly. That was way too honest. " Okay..."
Something about this girl really bugged me. I didn't know why everyone was being so weird to me. I wanted to prove them wrong so badly.
