Osamu watched how the pictures started to print out, he hesitated to grab it, glancing at it before he took it. He looked over to his brother, the saddened face he had was enough to say that he couldn't do it. "I thought yo—you guys were joking about everything!" Atsumu faked a laugh, almost at the verge of tears.

Of course he wasn't close to the finish line, the game had already ended.

"It was just—"

"I mean it doesn't hurt to tell your friends, right..? Y/n? Suna?" he said, mainly looking at Y/n, feeling a bit betrayed as he thought she would've told him everything. Osamu heard how hurt he was, he was stuttering over his words. "We're not—"

"I think it's time for us to go home 'Samu." Atsumu smiled at his brother, hoping he would get the hint. "Yeah, we came over here to say that..mom wanted us home soon." Osamu said, flipping the picture over as he let it fall to the floor before the two walked away.

"Why didn't she tell me anything 'Samu?"

"I don't know 'Tsumu."

He looked back at the two, they looked as if they were talking. "I'll make you..food." Osamu mumbled, trying make his brother feel better. "Onigiri?" Atsumu asked, looking at Osamu as they exited the mall. "Fine." Osamu crossed his arms. "Make five."

"Okay now you're just being greedy." Osamu shoved him. "I'm not! I'm just hungry!"

"So am I! I want some for myself too!"

The few days were awkward, too awkward that even his former teammates were concerned about why they were sitting apart from each other and why Y/n was sitting somewhere else.

Kita stood up, looking at the three then walked over to Y/n, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Is there something wrong L/n?" he said, scaring her a bit. "Oh hi Kita and no nothing's wrong!" she gave him a a small smile, not trying to engage in the conversation anymore.

"Well." Kita knew the two seemingly liked it each other but didn't know why the group had separated in only a few days. "Atsumu would like to talk to you after school..at the tree right outside in the backyard." Kita didn't like lying but it wasn't his place to say anything about to twos feelings.

"He does?" her eyes widened a bit. "He does, if you're not feeling well. Please tell me, I can make you something extra for lunch or you can talk to me. I'll try to understand." he softly ruffled her hair, walking back to his table, telling Atsumu the same thing.

"Meeting behind the school is kinda cliche.."

———

She waited outside, sitting on the bench as she rapidly tapped her foot. She didn't have a reason to be so nervous but she was. The two haven't talked during those few days, she wondered why but she knew why. She felt like a coward to even text him.

"Y/n?"

"Atsumu..uh what happened?" he looked at her confused. "What do you mean? You're the one who asked— Kita.." he sighed as he sat next to her, noticing how he sat at the end of the bench. "I'm sorry."

"Why are you saying sorry?"

"It was a bad idea. I don't like him, not at all..I just thought it would help me get rid of my feelings..for you— when I say out loud it— never mind..it just sounds bad in general. I'm sorry, I just wanted us to stay as friends..I didn't want to ruin our friendship—"

"You what.." he looked at her like she was saying something crazy. "I really really like you Atsumu, I didn't want to ruin our friendship! So I tried and tried to get rid of these feelings but I really can't..I love..you." she whispered, she couldn't look him in the eye, she didn't want to see the face he made and she didn't want to hear what he had to say.

"I'm sorry..but I don't have feelings for you."

"Oh, yeah I know that! You really don't like people anyways.." she muttered out as he saw the hurt expression on her face. He could've easily said that he was lying but he felt as if it was a sort of payback for what she did. He knew it was childish but one should never play with another's feelings.

"We can still be friends right?" she only put on a smile for him.

"Right, friends.."
