Bambam shrieks in joy as he unleashed his powers. It had been too long since he could set himself free without killing his opponent. Can he fight against Yugyeom again after this ends? Pretty please?

Bambam whips his tail in the air and poisonous spikes shoot from his tail through the arena, the other recruits flinching as it nears them, but calm down after the spikes disintegrate when they touch Jungkook's energy shield.

"God, babyboy, you're incredible," Bambam laughs because Yugyeom not only did not bat an eye at his attack, he had flown towards Bambam and struck him with his sword.

Spikes dig deep in Yugyeom's flesh but he ignored them, being immune to all poisons and tolerating the pain, he struck against Bambam again and again, his strength not faltering once.

"Fascinating," Taehyung unknowingly mutters. Is Yugyeom's tolerance of pain a natural physical attribute of being a Valkyrie or is it from sheer willpower? He makes a note to find out from the recruit later.

"I can choose not to feel pain," Jungkook said suddenly to Taehyung who was left  confused while Jin rolled his eyes at the unnecessary competitiveness. Nothing new here. Jin turns his attention back to the battle.

Bambam use his claws to block Yugyeom's attacks and the two recruits go back and forth, on par with their massive strength, until Yugyeom cut Bambam with his sword.

Valkyries are truly in a class of their own in terms of swordsmanship.

Bambam's grin widens, his eyes flashing red before he dashed backwards with a strong flap of his wings.

Time to get serious.

A menacing growl unfurls from the back of his throat and all the recruits reacted in some way, such as Jinyoung hissing through gritted teeth and Jackson growling in his chest. They had instinctively recognised it as a challenge.

The popping of bones and muscles stretching can be heard as Bambam shifts into his true form — a tail with spikes, body of a lion, large leathery wings and the head of a horned goat — a manticore.

Yugyeom grips his sword and a bright light envelops him and attaches to his sword and winged helmet.

"The light of Valhalla. It enhances a Valkyrie's offensive and defensive abilities," Taehyung informed.

Bambam's and Yugyeom's eyes meet and they pounced, sending tremors through the pit everytime they come in contact, and soon, holes and cracks form when they send each other into the ground or walls.

"Both of them can make it into the top hundred rank with some training and experience," Jin remarked.

Jungkook nods in agreement.

A particularly loud crack was heard when Bambam and Yugyeom slammed into the pit together, their limbs entangled in their fight, with Bambam at the bottom.

The timer rings.

"Are you okay? Oh my god, why did you do that? First aid, please!" Yugyeom kneels beside Bambam and fusses over the boy, wiping the blood at the corner of his mouth and checking for other injuries.  

"What happened?" A recruit who missed the last bit of action asked.

"The manticore flipped them around in the air and cushioned the fall," another recruit replied.

Bambam coughs, more blood trickling from his mouth, but the relaxed grin remains as he said to Yugyeom, "pretty wings like yours shouldn't get crumpled."

Yugyeom couldn't stop the pink dusting his cheeks although he cursed at Bambam and called him an idiot.

Jinyoung nods, "he really is an idiot."

Jackson laughs out loud at that. The siren is pretty but he sure has a savage tongue. The refreshing combination had Jackson slapping his own thigh in amusement as he wheezed from laughter. Infected by Jackson's joy, Jinyoung smiled a little.

"Babyboy, can you hold my hand? It kinda—ah... hurts," Bambam groans as the healing serum injected into him by the first aid crew works on healing his wounds.

Yugyeom turns a bright shade of red as he lets Bambam hold his hand under everyone's gazes. This is the least he can do after what Bambam had done for him, right?

"No, you hold your own hand. Some people are single over here," a recruit, JayB said and the recruits nearby snorted then laughed some more at bambam's "come on, man."

Even Taehyung couldn't help his giggles and Jungkook faked a cough to cover his chuckle. Jin shakes his head in amusement before calling for a five minute break to let Bambam heal enough to answer their questions.

"Drink?" Jungkook immediately takes out canned soda from seemingly nowhere and wraps Jin's hand around it to cool it down before opening it and placing it in front of Taehyung.

Jin grumbles from the side, "how many times have I said that I'm not a refrigerator and if I am being treated like one at least stock me up with food or drinks."

"Um, you can have it," Taehyung tries to give it back but Jungkook brings out another two cans for himself and Jin.

Taehyung could then only thank Jungkook and he takes a careful sip from the can.

Taehyung slides his phone out of his pocket and drops a text to Jimin. He couldn't take it anymore.

Jungkook is with me and Jin hyung at the recruit evaluation
And he's being weird

He is smiling
Low-key showing off I think?

Is he doing that harmless bragging thing?
Like not putting anyone down but trying to show you there are things to like about him
