Your POV
The adults fight in the room in front of me. Who gets me and why can't this person take me. I just look at the floor and color in my coloring book. I miss mommy. She'd make me feel better and we wouldn't be here. My daddy is never around. He's always out.
He use to be around but I don't see him anymore. She said that he was just busy. I didn't really mind though. He should be here protecting me but he's not. A man comes out he's older and kind of looks like daddy. I stare at him. He looks down at me.
"You're coming to live with me. It seems like no one has the guts to take care of you. I will protect you. Your father won't be around much as usual. From now on you can call me grandpa Ukai." He says. I just look a bit saddened and nod. I put my things in my bag and get up. I hold his hand and we leave. "Grandpa Ukai." I say. "Yes?" He asks. "Does daddy not love me?" I ask.
"He does he just makes bad decisions." He says. "So that's why he's never home any more. Daddy use to play with me all the time but not anymore. I never see him anymore. It's my fault isn't it?" I ask. He looks down at my teary face. He pulls a handkerchief from his pocket and kneels down to wipe my face.
"None of this is your fault. Your father isn't a smart man at times. So if we give him some time he'll come around. I'm sure he's just hurt. He just needs some time to heal too." He says. He picks me up. "Let's get something to eat then we can go home." He says. I nod and hold him.
Time skip to present
I never heard from dad ever again. I've done fine with out him. As I got older I just thought of him as a bad dad. Abandoning his child. There isn't a point in hating him. Why be all worked up over someone who doesn't want you.
Ever since I've been living with grandpa life has been good. He taught me how to play volleyball and all kinds of things. Now I'm in highschool doing great. I'm at the top of my class even skipped a grade. I also help the teachers out. "Excuse me (Y/n)." A teacher says.
"Yes?" I ask. "Mr.Takeda left his journal here. He normally takes it with him. Could you take it to him?" The teacher asks. "Yes." I say and take the notebook. "He should be at the boys volleyball gym." They say. I nod and go take it to him. Grandpa use to teach boys volleyball but he retired.
Time skip to the boys volleyball gym
I search for Mr. Takeda. I take my shoes off at the door. He's sitting by the wall. "Mr. Takeda you left your journal at the teachers office." I say and hand it to him. "Oh thanks sorry for the trouble it's nothing." He says.
I nod trying to avoid any contact with Kageyama. I go to leave then I see him. The man who left me all those years ago from the corner of my eye. Everything feels like it's in slow motion. Please move faster legs.
Just move any speed that's faster. I get to the door and put my shoes on. I did my best to not be recognized. I even dyed my hair black.
My hand is grabbed I look back and it's him. "It is you." He says. I snatch my hand away. "What do you want from me?" I ask looking away. "I-" He says.
I just give him a look of disappointment. He's pathetic. (I actually love him so much please don't be mad at me.) "Why bother even telling me. You never talked to me back then so why start now." I say. He looks away. "I don't understand you at all. You're this close to me. Doing this instead of visiting me or even taking care of me. Instead you'd rather live your life instead of taking care of your own daughter. You didn't even bother to visit me. I don't want to hear from you not a single thing. There's no point." I say.
"(Y/n) it's been awhile." I hear Kageyama say. "Tch." I say then walk off. What a coincidence. My manipulative self centered ex with my abandoning father. I'm transferring from this hell hole.
Time skip home
"Welcome home how was school today?" Grandpa asks. "You'll never guess what I found out today. Who I met." I say plopping on the couch. "Who?" He asks. I explain what went down. "I guess you could transfer to Nekoma it is closer and I have a friend there." He says.
"Thank you." I say. "While your at it you could join their volleyball team. Get some revenge." He says. "You think I could really make it?" I ask. "Of course you can you have been playing for most of your life." He says. "Thank you grandpa for making me feel better." I say.
"That's a part of the job." He says. "Now tomorrow we go do the paperwork." He says. I nod.
