I yawn as the bell rings signaling class is over. Great just five more to go. I'm so glad our school only has six classes, I don't think I will be able to survive seven or eight classes. That's just barbaric. I stretch before packing up my things. When I feel a hand on my shoulder I stop. What is with teachers and my shoulder?! I turn and see Ms. Gold smiling at me.
"Aurora do you have a minute?"
"Not really." I say deadpanned.
"Oh, It's okay I'll write you a pass for your next class so you won't be late."
"That's not what I was worried about actually. Just give me a second." She nods and I pull out my phone. I scroll through my contacts until I find April's. I press the call button and it rings twice before she picks up.
————
"Hey Aura! Where are you?"
"I'm sorry Ari. I have to help Ms. Gold with something."
"Oh. Well that's okay. I'll see you after right?"
"Of course. But wait a minute. Don't hang up." I pull the phone away from my ear and turn my attention to Ms. Gold.
————
"Hey Ms. Gold?"
"Yes hun?" What's with teachers and pet names.
"Is it okay for April Swan to come and help too?"
"Sure! I don't see why not."
"Thanks." She nods her head with a smile.
————
"Hey Ari? You still there?"
"Yeah. What is it?"
"Come to Ms. Gold's classroom."
"But I'll be late."
"No she'll write you a pass. Just get your short self down here."
"No need to insult me." I laugh then she hangs up.
————
I place my backpack on my shoulder just as April walks in. She picks at her hands and I walk over to her placing my hand on hers, making her stop.
"Okay girls! So I originally just wanted Aurora to help with this but I looked over your grades starting from freshman year and you would also be the perfect candidate. So now on to the real reason you guys are here. Will you guys be up to tutor a student for me?!"
"Depends on who this student is." April just points at me, nodding her head. Honestly adorable. I place my arm on her head using her as an armrest. She pushes her arm off my head with a glare.
"Well great now I'm getting the silent treatment." April just shrugs her shoulders and turns to face Ms. Gold.
"Okay so this student is Veronica Chapel. Is that all right?" As soon as those words leave her lips our jaws are on the floor.
"Is that okay?! No it's not okay! I'm not doing anything for her!" April almost shouts. Before she can start naming more reasons why she won't do it I clamp my hand over her mouth.
"Sorry Ms. Gold but we aren't very fond of Veronica. I don't think it's gonna work." April nods and I pull my hand away from her mouth.
"Well that's too bad. I heard Harvard are more likely to accept people who tutor their peers." She says almost smugly.
I huff and pull April to the back of the classroom. She looks at me confused.
"April I know it's your dream to go to Harvard. So I'll tutor Veronica myself and transfer all the credits to you. That sounds okay?"
"Are you crazy?! You think I'm gonna leave you alone with her?! We are not and will not tutor her. There is other schools."
"No Ari there isn't other schools. Harvard is the thing you're most passionate about besides me of course." She laughs at this with a blush. "But Ari, you can't let one person stop you from doing what you're so passionate about. So imma go tell Ms. Gold the plan okay?" She nods with a sigh. I smile and peck her forehead.
"Okay Ms. Gold-
"We'll do it!" I get cut off by April.
"Wait what?"
"I'm not gonna let you suffer though this alone. And no matter how much I despise Veronica you're right. I can't let one person stop what I'm so passionate about." I smile at her and then back to Ms. Gold.
"Okay then girls when are you guys completely free?"
"Sunday's. We usually have plans on Saturday and Friday's and during the week we are working on our own stuff. So Sundays is best for us." Ms. Gold nods and hands us a slip.
"Speaking of plans what are we doing this weekend?" She says sitting on top of a desk.
"I'm glad you asked. Well since it's finally Friday we are gonna go play some laser tag after we change into something more comfortable to run around in, Saturday my dad, my mom, and I are having a movie night in our backyard since my dad bought my mom this new projector thingy and you have to be there because even though they have been married for years I can't watch them kiss the entire time, and finally on Sunday we have to tutor Veronica."
"Is this a two-day date Ms. Mills?"
Maybe, maybe not. And it's Mrs. Swan-Mills to you missy!"
"Why would it be Sw- ohhhhh. Smooth one." She says blushing. I laugh and smirk at her.
"Also after school we can go to my house and get changed." I say intertwining my hand in hers.
"Hey! What about me why can't I change?"
"We all know you wanna wear something from my closet considering half of it somehow got in yours."
"Shut up and walk me to class." She says pulling the door open to Ms. Gold's room and walking out. I laugh and follow behind her.
We reach her classroom door and she fiddles with the teachers slip in her hand. She huffs and pulls me in a hug.
"Well I guess today and tomorrow are gonna make up for Sunday."
"It's all gonna be okay. I'm sure she'll leave us alone once she realizes nothing is gonna happen to us."
"I doubt it but it's nice you have hope." I shake my head and laugh at her.
"Go sit down you missed enough of class already."
She pecks my lips and wraps her arms around my neck.
"I love you Aurora and thank you." She whispers in my ear.
"No problem Ari. And I guess I love you too." She punches me in my arm. Not gonna lie that actually hurt.
"I was kidding!" She smirks at me before pecking my cheek and walking in class.
