"Wake up. I wanna show you something" I whispered shaking Ziya out of her sleep. It was in the middle of the night and Ziya was confused as to why I woke her up. But I had a surprise for her.
"What..." She rubbed her eyes hopping out of bed and following me out of her room. We quietly walked down the long hallway trying not to wake anyone else. Once we finally made it out of the building I dashed for the woods.
"Follow me." I pulled her by her arm all the way to the Untouched Lake in the middle of the forest. I had found it the other day when we were playing hide-and-go-seek. We stopped at the edge and stared down at the silver liquid that filled the crater. I reached down to touch it but Ziya stopped me.
"Stop Lau. It might hurt you." She pulled me back away from the edge.
" It won't. See..." I immediately dipped my hand into it as it changed colors everytime I moved my hand. Ziya looked at it in amazement. I pulled my hand out and it was dry, like I had never put my hand in the silvery subsance.
"Try it." I nudged her towards the lake. But she shook her head 'no'.
"It doesn't hurt." I assured her but she just sat down and looked at it."You said you trust me, right?" She nodded her 'yes'. So I just pushed her in while jumping in myself. She splashed around a little before I grabbed her and helped her get on my back.
"Why did you do that Lau?!? I wasn't ready" She complained holding onto me tighter. "You know I'm short"
"Oh hush. You always ready. You a warrior." I said as she giggled and kissed my cheek.
It was true. She was always brave and not afraid to put herself in danger for the safety of others. That's what warriors do. She was strong, brave, and fearless...
*************"Bro...Mon frere...Wake up Lau." Larry said shaking me awake. I squinted trying to adjust to the little light seeping in through the window. The sun was barely out. I looked over at Larry, who was sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Whatchu want?" I asked slightly irritated.
"We gotta be in the training center at 6:30. You gonna be late." He stood up and left. I hadn't noticed that he was dressed and ready to go.
Oh shit. I almost forgot we were at this facility. I looked over at the clock and it read 6:04 a.m. Damn, why so early though. I'm usually the one that has to wake him up. He's always woke up late, but not today. I hurried up and hopped in the shower. I got out and went towards my closet to see what clothes they had for us. There was just one outfit, and I'm guessing it was my training gear. I threw it on the black rashguard shirt, black basketball shorts, and slid on the only shoes that they provided for me. I walked out of my room and looked around for Larry, but he wasn't there. So I left our apartment and went down to the hang out room. I saw Azalea coming out of a door panting trying to catch her breath. She looked over at me and smiled kindly.
"Z's in there waiting for you." She said out of breath.
I nodded and went into the door she came out from. I walked into the matted training area and jumped from the sound of screaming that sounded like mon frere. My head snapped into the direction in which it came from. I saw him standing infront of Ziya and his arms were in flames. I looked at Ziya, who was wearing a black sports bra, which showed all the markings on her arms and back, and tight running capris. She was standing a few feet infront of him unphased by his limbs that were now in flames. I slowly walked over towards them as Ziya was talking to Larry. Then she looked at me and shook her head. Larry went back to normal.
