They let you stay at one of the guest rooms, that was left from the stairs that led to the loft above. They provided you with some clean clothes and some food besides that The maids were really welcoming albeit indolent. Adelinde would constantly express her disappointment regarding them slacking off. Diluc often gave you cold stares limiting you from interacting with him.

However, Adelinde would mostly tend to your needs.  That very morning, you decided to make yourself useful by helping around the house. As you were cleaning his study, you came across a picture of him and two other people.

One looked just like him though more older it was his Father from the looks of it, and the other had navy blue hair, wore a large eye patch and held a bright smile. An old family picture from when he was a child.

You gazed at it, "he looked so happy." You muttered to yourself, or so you thought.

"You.."

The deep voice coming from the doorway startled you causing you to gasp. Diluc looked at you with a raised brow glaring at you with those piercing red eyes again

"What are you doing in here?" Diluc spat.  Not raising his voice however by the tone of his voice he wasn't at all happy seeing you here.

"Sir, i-i was just cleaning up in here."

"Leave. You have no business in here."

You profusely apologized and scurried off out into the living room. He slammed the door shut. He walked over to the place where you were and picked up the photo frame, his past self stared back at him.

He sighed and placed the photoframe back on his desk and continued his work.

Meanwhile, you sheepishly approached Adelinde, holding your left arm while looking down at the floor. She was cleaning the dust and decluttering the table that stood at the very centre of the living room. Judging by your behavior, expression and the fact that Diluc's voice could be heard

She chuckled, "Diluc, giving you a hard time again?"

"Well, Not really. I mean I'm used to this sort of treatment but i can't help but feel like there's a lot more than what meets the eye."

She looked down at the teacup that laid upon the table, not taking her gaze off of it. She responded with a nod.

"You hit the nail on the head. It's that obvious huh." She sighed

"If it's alright, may I ask about Master Diluc?"

"His past? Well, in short. He grieved alot after his father died he blames himself saying that he was weak and couldn't do anything to save him. He gave up his position as calvary captain in the knights of favonius and despises them."

You paid attention to everything she said, but she stopped in between and stuttered nervously.

"I don't know anything else, Master Diluc doesn't really like to talk about the past."

"I see, thank you Adelinde"

"No problem, dear."

You couldn't sleep that night, something had kept you up that night but you couldn't pinpoint the exact reason. You decided to leave your room and roam around the living room.

You walked out, staring at the hung pictures on the wall. Aimlessly lurking around in the dark, only a few candlelights lit up a few corners of the place. You were determined to not knock into one of the furnitures to avoid waking up the others.
